If we truly think about it BTS should be a guide on how teamwork and bands should work, No egos, no one thinking they are better than one, a solid foundation of what friendship/brotherood is.

"Each bts solo career is a seven different opportunities for them to redirect audiences to bts as a supergroup"
I never thought about it this way but this sentence blew my mind . This is such a direct and accurate way to describe them

when she said said that the younger members of BTS weren't required to go to the military for the next 3-4 years but they all decided to go at once because Jin had to and no group in the history of Kpop havs ever done this. Ohh boy I cried.

joon said it in the best way. He described BTS as them all being in the same boat looking in different directions. That they are the best in what they do individually but still working together and still going together on the same path. and i think that’s beautiful

Your comment on how J-Hope SO CLEARLY letting J Cole shine really hits home. His stepping back for J Cole is obvious to those who are fans of his and BTS. But how this relates to BTS' team dynamic is something I never thought about! You made me think! Thank you for another brilliant video essay.

One of the most blatant examples of how BTS prioritizes and respects their team over their own egos is that even in their solo projects they tend to have at least 6 back-up dancers as a way to symbolize the remaining six of the team. Not to mention the way they hype each other's solo projects. Team work does really make the dream work!

Another thing to note is that BTS are able to write songs and customize their writing to suit members and let everyone shine within the group—because they actually write their own songs. (What a concept!) The main issue with other groups focusing on a singular sound and not evolving, or even a singular look, is rooted in relying on others to write and create content/songs for them to perform. BTS are songwriters and artists and creators ON TOP of being performers, amongst the saturated kpop market with groups that only perform what’s given to them. People can see and feel the difference and it’s why BTS even on hiatus continues to reign.

Bangtan have the longevity because they are a true family first and foremost, a real strong band of brothers who love and support each other professionally and personally they are there for one another. Their teamwork made the dreamwork since the beginning they all started out together and have grown with each other. They will always be successful as a group and individually, they know the sacrifices they have made, their literal blood sweat and tears put them where they are today

I’m an older millennial ARMY, so I lived through the most popular western boy bands, and was a Backstreet Boys fan myself as a kid - so I definitely felt what you are saying as I started to get into BTS - TRULY, the world hadn’t seen their unique makeup before. I think that’s part of the reason it took the media SO LONG to understand BTS, and they STILL don’t fully understand the TRUE APPEAL OF BANGTAN!

all of what you say is true, however, IMHO, the biggest difference is that theses guys love each other . they encourage, cheer on, and are proud of whatever accomplishment any of them have either as a solo or a pair. They all showed up at Suga's concert, Jimin flew to USA for Suga, Hobie, and JK. The others showed up for him. They help each other succeed as well. I remember one clip where Jin said he could learn the steps, but he wasn't sure how good he would make them look, V, JK Jimin and Hobie Told JIn they would practice with him. and Jimin said Hyung, we won't let you feel like you failed. This kind of teamwork, brotherhood, and friendships is what makes BTS work. They are proud of each other and understand when one is good, its also good for BTS.

This video is sooo needed! Especially with the rise of solo stans that interpret BTS’ name being attached to a member is “limiting” or “mooching” off that member’s success. Its so disheartening to see SOO many new 2023 solo stans of members (mostly maknae line) that have never interacted with BTS content only solo content. So they have no idea how important BTS’ teamwork REALLY is. If not for BTS we wouldnt have been blessed with all of these amazing solo projects!

What striked me the most about BTS as a team is their respect for one another. Especially after I read the book that came out 2023 it became so clear to me how much they not only respect but admire each other, without toxic jealousy. When they once reached a cruel time they promised themselves to work hard to keep up being in BTS. I think that shows how they view this, the group, being idols and standing on stage. They do not take it for granted. They see it as an opportunity and a chance to grow. And while doing so they help each other. They know that fans of their solo projects are fans of BTS. they work, even as soloist, in the name of BTS. They have respect towards their own group. A big factor as well had to be that they were rising to the top quite isolated, they had to learn how to rely on one another ...

Something that I also think was different with One Direction was they were thrusted into being a group when they all originally intended on being soloists. They auditioned as soloists for the X-Factor but the only way they would be on the show was if they became a group. Granted they probably did not know how big they would be but I wonder if they were thinking this would be a good platform to launching a solo career down the road if the group does well for a short amount of time. One Direction didn't have the time to bond or struggle, they were thrusted into success from the very beginning of their career. And I don't follow them that closely but do the members even hang out or talk as friends. I don't mean liking an instagram post or attending a concert of another member but are actual friends. Something I've always appreciated about BTS is they don't have to sacrifice their solo careers for the group, they can do both. I know it's a lot of work and I'm sure there are sacrifices made but I love how they make it known BTS comes before their solo careers.

New ARMY as of October 2023 and I already know that BTS works harder than any other boy band I loved back when I was a teenager. BTS knows that they constantly need to grow and evolve and they are doing that now. That is the key to longevity. I think each member is a “lead” in their own way and I will be here no matter what.

each and every BTS member is a strong soloist but when put together as one BTS they became the strongest! i am amazed by how each and every solo projects have their own unique touch and individuality and each member shines as a soloist and as a group they became one and be the greatest!

BTS members know their real power comes from being united. I think early on, they learned to respect and appreciate each member's individual talents/personality. Now they truly love each other and feel bonded for life as a family. None of them are jealous of the others' achievements because they truly want each person to succeed and know the members will be there with encouragement and support when it is their turn to shine individually. BTS is unique as members and as a group.

I completly agree with you with everything especially the diversity part in BTS. Korea society has an obsession of uniformity in general. When I see the other kpop groups, a lot of them look the same, their voices sound the same is like it happens with kdramas all the main actor and actresses of the different kdramas look like copies, in their obsession of uniformity but in BTS you have 7 unique personalities, voices. BTS is one of those groups that is once in a lifetime. We are so lucky to be alive in the same time than BTS .

another great video!! bts are always talking about being older men and still performing together for armys and i can easily see it because they just work great together. they respect each other in a way that i've never seen in other groups.
