I’ve met two Medal of Honor recipients in my lifetime. Both of them were among the most humble of people I’ve ever met. I’ve been in a combat zone many times. It is loud, frightening and completely disorienting at times. How these people drum up this level of courage in circumstances most of us can’t fathom is beyond me. It comes down to one simple thought process— I can’t let my fellow Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, or Airmen down. They are depending on me as I depend on them!

“I remember his last words.”

“You go. I’ll cover ya.” With a smile on his face.

<lock and load>

Chills on chills.

Netflix needs to add more to this series. There are so many brave soldiers who've earned that medal and deserve to have their stories told. We were only shown far less than 1% of those men.

I'm a Canadian and a patriot to my country. But, I have great respect for those willing to go above and beyond the call of duty with courage, regardless of the flag they wear on their uniform.

Does this mean Netflix will be making 'movie' type episodes for each Medal of Honour awarded? Because I will watch the hell out of that.

It's been forever since I've seen a good Military Documentary series like the Military Channel used to do. This looks really good.

As a non American, I feel like a huge piece of apple pie with vanilla ice-cream just about now. I was at a College (University) Football game in 2014. It was held in Tampa Bay Florida's James Ray stadium which is around 60, 000 capacity. 60, 000 people watching 17 year old's. That alone is mental. Anyway, before the game as lead up, they had 6 wounded war veteran's presented to the packed house. Each veteran had injuries worse than the previous. The last veteran was presented by his father who served in Vietnam. They were both seriously injured. The father with a missing leg and arm. His son was blinded and missing an arm. The whole stadium. THE WHOLE STADIUM went bonkers! I have never witnessed anything like it in my whole life. Just on queue, as the father & son reached the side line four Navy Jets flew over and fireworks went off around the whole stadium. Nobody does build up on a grand scale like the Americans. Every body around me had tears rolling down their face. I tell you it was fucking nuts.

My uncle was in the Vietnam war and he was rewarded the Medal of Honor and he's told me the story of how his platoon was pinned down by a machine gunner and how he covered them so that they could retreat because of multiple enemy squads were closing in on their position and I remember everything that he told from start to finish, and I'm glad he kept telling me to story and his experience before he passed.
