I absolutely loved this video. The idea of these lovable nerdy scientists looking at churches and monuments and thinking "That can double as a scientific instrument!", that is just too irresistible a thought. Thank you.

A suggestion: El tres de Mayo by Goya.

It is maybe the most haunting painting I know, and I always felt it was a harbinger of future painting developments, with its impressionist style of painting the French soldiers.

Just a suggestion; I love your series, looking forward to what you may be doing next!

You’ve created a remarkable collection of videos. It’s a shame such a level of production takes so long to produce. Onward to 10k subs!

This was very interesting but the music seemed a little jarring. Maybe I've just grown to expect period music in art history videos because that's the usual choice. I read a story (in Stewart Brand's Whole Earth Catalog possibly) that in the 19th or 20th century some mathematician or architect figured out that the dome was in danger of collapse. So a plan was made to wrap a huge chain around the outside of the inner dome (or maybe the inside of the outer dome, threaded through rings) to keep it from spreading. But when they went to carry out the repair they found that Wren had beat them to it by a couple of centuries and there was a chain already there.

I tried to confirm this story with a quick google search, and Wren did in fact install a wrought iron chain to help support the dome, but I didn't find anything suggesting that this was a forgotten bit of engineering brilliance rediscovered years later.

Reverend Sydney Smith came upon a little girl petting her pet turtle. "Why are you stroking that turtle?" he asked. "To please the turtle, " she replied. "You might just as well stroke the dome of St. Paul's to please the Dean!" said Rev. Smith.
