I looked on google maps and that railway has severed a local road (henri julien avenue) and if you legally want to change sides it's about 10min by foot or 10min by bike (unless you carry your bike up some steps, then I guess you could do it faster on the bike).

Those damn rail lines slice the city into two unattainable parts. It’s unbelievably complicated to get around them. You can easily waste a whole hour “legally” walking from one side to the other. A little more south, it could be possible to have easy access to park railway station directly from parc Jarry but the cpr stubbornly refuses to give access. We have to walk around for about 45 minutes to move 20 feet

It's CP not CN. I used to live near there in the 90s. Crossing a railway is no different than crossing a street, you just have to look both ways first.

Finding a way across this fucking thing is extremely unintuitive if you're new to the city or just haven't been around this neighbourhood a lot. Incredibly stupid that the city hasn't been able to take any significant action after all these years.
