As someone who works as an environmental scientist at a global company in the U.S., my field excursions usually don't last longer than a week. I think the longest I've been in the field is 2 weeks. My field to office ratio is about 30/70, if anyone is curious. The company that we are consulting to pays for just about everything, like Kristina said. The only thing that various is food, which as Kristina said, is on a "per diem" which the going rate in the U.S. varies but is usually $55 dollars per day. Which if you don't use the whole $55, that goes in your pocket tax free. Not saying skimp by, but it can be nice. Everything else (hotel, airfare, rental car/truck, gas) is all paid for by the company we are consulting to. This has just been my experience.

I have always wanted to follow my passion, the study of ecossystems and following something in the field of environmental biology and conservation. Im turning 18 and about to head to university and super nervous because everyone tells me that its a dying field and i will be left jobless for thr rest of my life anyone got advice?

how do you find jobs as a biologist, do you use sites like indeed or is there a system that would get ahold of you when new jobs open? Or is it just a practice of searching all the time ?lol thanks!

I have been watching your video's ever since I searched on Youtube for this type of career. Could you talk about the type of school work that one could be doing if applying for a degree in environmental science? If you have already spoken about the school work, could you let me know how to find the video? Great content by the way.

What if you live in a van? Could you just travel places in your van?🤔
I want to live in a van, and I want to be a ecologist, but I don't know if that would work out or not.

What a nice cat you have there!
I’m in the process of applying for some entry level positions in environmental consulting, how often does the company tell you to travel by your own means to the contract location?

Great video! I'd also like to know a bit more info for those who might go to academia in this field if you know. :) Like, how they choose research/ do they travel sometimes doing it/ what are pros and cons of being a researcher and a hired employee.
