Rebuilding Lives – Economic, Social & Cultural Rights in Post-Conflict Palestine and Lebanon

On 4 October 2024, GICJ, in collaboration with International Organization for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (EAFORD), Association Ma'onah for Human Rights and Immigration, and International Lawyers, organised a side event during the 57th session of the Human Rights Council which focused on the "Role of Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights in Post-Conflict Recovery for Palestine and Lebanon".

Notable speakers... from GICJ, EAFORD, and International-Lawyers.Org emphasised the overlooked importance of these rights in empowering civilians to rebuild their lives.

Panelists Sarah Tayara, Luna Layl, and Shahd Sataria offered compelling insights, from the psychological toll of war on children to the historical lessons of Kosovo and South Africa in peacebuilding. Shahd Sataria's powerful personal testimony revealed the devastating human impact of the conflict in Gaza, while Luna Layl and Sarah Tayara highlighted paths for recovery through education, justice, and security.
