Seems simple but I cannot get a grip with the tool - just keeps slipping out of the grooves. Taps pretty old do the screw must be stuck 😢

Brilliant, thanks for that, especially the shower tap tip....description whereby the tap is deep into the wall. Tap head has to be removed... Cheers.

Thanks for this. I've had a plumber in twice over a couple years to fix/replace my bathroom taps, and it's exorbitant in price each time. This time, I did it myself. Cost me $15 all up and no more leaking!

Oh you beaut! Haha saw theses tools when i was at bunnings geting the washers etc. wondering what they were. Didn’t get one. They are shut now. But its ok, I am British so wont need it for another 4 months as had shower today. You’re a hero mate. Thanks.

Your a Champ for doing this!! I asked our plumber numerous times since he installed those handles to show me how to take those handles off so we DON'T have to ring him up to change the washers! Every time he's avoided the issue!? Surely they give you the TOOL when you buy the handles!??? What are plumbers these days? Bower birds!?? You leave the tool with the house you put it in, LIKE the bottom kitchen draw!?? Leave them in the home! What good are they somewhere else!???
AND BUNNINGS, WELL THE PLUMBER BOUGHT THE TAPS THERE BUT COULD THEY HELP!??? I was told the OTHER day that the bathroom section was there to help? I've been there and have never been able to get someone to even look like they're INTERESTED in serving customers unless your buying a new bathroom or kitchen!??? I KNOW they're not all as bad as the one here in Caloundra but they don't call this place Clown Town for NOTHING!?? I think I'll try a plumbing shop!?

I used a small pair of 90° Circlip pliers, either internal or external circlip pliers work fine. 🙂🇦🇺

Thanks, helped allot. I was going to buy the tool from Bunnings but after reading the review of so many broken after just one tool i used a right angle scribe tool. took a bit of time but saved me the drive and $10. In my case they were fairly loose so it wasn't a issue but if they were tight it may have been a problem. cheers

I always wondered how you got this design tap apart, cheers and thanks.

Thanks for the video. I have one of those tools but thread is tight so tool just bends. Would 90° Circlip pliers be stronger as John O suggested?

The other solution which you alluded to was turning off the water, unscrew the tap to fully open, unscrew the skirt, but don’t use conventional spanner. There are ‘slim jaw’ adjustable spanners that will minimise potential damage to the porcelain basin. Unscrew the entire tap unit which then gives better access to the stupid locking screw 😉. Gonna put my theory to test the afternoon.

Hi, thank you for this video I was wondering where exactly I could get my hands on this tool. I have been searching the web and no luck. If you could provide a link, I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you!

I live in Adelaide and we get so much build-up from our water that I can't remove the tap head OR bonnet. It's driving me nuts.
I have one of those handy tools for the handle but it's still got so much build up that I can't remove either. 😔

Hi! We keep trying to rotate the cone underneath the handle, and it seems stuck. Do you have any tips for it?

Thanks for this video! Is making my life somewhat easier but how can you loosen the cone if it’s way too tight? I can’t get any grip on it to even do the first step haha
