The Southern Television Interruption of 1977 was a bizarre incident where the mysterious voice of "Vrillon from the Ashtar Command" broke onto an English television station. For forty-five years, it has remained unsolved. But I have made a number of major breakthroughs...

I am now ready to make my research public, and it's going to take the form of a podcast. The first two episodes of The Interruption are dropping on Monday 28th November 2022. The story continues on December 5th, 12th, 19th.

Just found this story on podcast and am just onto episode two. Even though we lived in Oxfordshire, Southern was our strongest TV signal as our local transmitter was obscured by a hill (Boars Hill). I was 9 years old at the time, my younger brother 7 and remember this broadcast as it frightened the living daylights out of us! Our parents didn’t have any answers either, which made it even more scary.

I channel representatives from Ashtar Command as well as the GFL. One must look at the message vs the messenger. I've found this message to be very peaceful as humanity approaches its next quantum leap. Vrillon is a very real and very benevolent being.

A thorough investigation into the event by Tommy with good production, but getting stuck down plenty of blind allies! He's the first person got to reveal the perpetrator, but even in the final episode for some reason Tommy didn't get around to clearly explaining why the that particular transmitter was targeted or how it was done. Plot spoiler: Hannington was the only main British TV transmitter that didn't have a secure RF or cable feed, but relayed its signal from the Rowridge TV transmitter on the Isle of Wight. The pranksters knew this and all they had to do was park up near the Hannington transmitter with their own low power transmitter sending a signal on 525.25 MHz (the Rowridge ITV sound channel) and Hannington just relays that. Not complicated to understand but unfortunately not explained in 'The Interruption'.


If someone had bothered to ask anyone in broadcast engineering decades ago how this was done we wouldn't have had all the acres of nonsense printed about aliens and their superior technology. So superior apparently, that they couldn't manage do this over the whole nation (just Hampshire and bits of Berkshire!) or to capture the AM picture signal - technically much harder than capturing the FM sound only.
