The I Ching is a form of chinese alchemy and was a divination system developed to help the Chinese reason and strategise about the world and universe at a time when there were no scientific instruments or tools. It uses the principle of Yin and Yang to divide the world into parts and from there, it can be divided further into the eight trigrams.

Great concept :) Last week I was reading an article by Chenghou Cai that similarly tried to map the functions onto the trigrams. There were some differences in how he categorized things, but you guys agree on Fe, Ni, and Se. Regardless of how you slice it, I think playing with this framework can shed new light on things

Great work Erik. I think you're on to something here. Ive got some pretty groundbreaking theories too about mbti i'll also share soon enough. Mbti types no doubt have been around for many Millenia and goes way deeper than just simple psychology

Great analysis Erik! My intuition told me that the 16 types were modeled off of the I Ching many years ago and that was the impetus for me to seek out thinkers including yourself, so it's great to hear you delving into it. If you'd like to hear more about Chinese alchemy in western psychology I can show you the correspondence of the big five personality test and Chinese five element theory as well as the Buddhist five components of life. What does it mean "MBTI is not scientifically proven" could you please do a vid about it? And why is MBTI considered kinda cheap when it comes to real psychology in the textbooks and science? I Just LOVE MBTI as it cheers me up when I feel too sad & misunderstood. Idk what would've happened if I didn't come across MBTI - probably struck in the personality clash at college and feeling all alone & wondering if I have some disorder 😬😬😬

Erik, were your descriptions of the itching characters your own or is that their original meaning or did you embellish the original meanings? I can’t wait to use these descriptions for my growth process, especially NE as thunder, but the SI as wind bc it’s persistent is eye-opening too. And the lake as FE is such a beautiful description.

Really interesting, great analyze. I totally agree with all the relations between functions/personalities types and elements/energies.

It's possible they both tryed to understand the differents energies in differents way. I think we can retain this important word *ENERGY*.
Today we can make connections with theses 2 ways, Carl Jung inspired by this ? I don't know.

This could explain why I've always loved/been fascinated by the ice and water Ni, and lightning/thunder Ne, theses are my favorite things.
I often take pictures of the sky and nature Te, and I like swords.

_Sometimes I dreamed I was flying Si above a large lake Fe. Dream > unconscious > the unconscious of INTJ is ISFJ > Si Fe > Wind and Lake
(I don't know if everyone can make this kind of connection, Ni as dominant function is amazing, connecting everything)


I have many connections like this.
I knew many INTP and ENTP who likes go in the mountains Ti, I knew 2 ENTP who unconsciously like boats, lake + wind Fe Si.
Last year a coworker ESTP loved one of my paintings with mountains Ti and intense black backgound Se.
ENTJ who are leader and director/president of their company, they feel like they have a sword of Damocles above them Te

INFP ISFP emotions, feelings, emotions in arts, artist, they bring beauty and colors, appreciate what earth can offer them like flowers, creatures/animals, sun, light.


_ Thunder Ne
_ strike with opportunity, strike fast to bring about change from out of nowhere
ENTP & ENFP have difficulties to focus with their eyes, they can strike you with, like thunder. Generate ideas as thunder, make fast connectiosn between ideas.


_ Water Ni
_ seek out depth represented by the pilgrim on its wandering journey water is searching for the deepest spaces of the world
paradox of water, both calm and agitated, ice, crystals, snow, empty spaces
INTJ & INFJ _ Ni paradox, see the both sides, surely the only function able to make connections to connect all the sides



_ Mountain Ti _ going up to your own place of judgment and isolating yourself from other people to formulate your own logic or opinion
INTP & ISTP are stand, strong, imovable like mountains, solid like rocks.



_ Wind Si _ associated with the flow and persistent force that brings about slow change in the world
ISTJ & ISFJ live and adapt to the world as it is with the rules and structures of it.


_ Flame Se
_ brightness intensity action
ESTP & ESFP spread like fire, always in activity


_ Lake Fe
_ connection between people communication, understanding between tribes and one another
ESFP ENFJ harmony, people in circle hand in hand, equality, round table, people all equal

My personal (perhaps wrong) understanding of traditional Chinese frameworks is that the correspondence of interactions and relations between categorical terms in a framework, and that of the interactions and relations between the real world analog of those terms, is not due to something divine, sacred or inherent, but more of a pedagogical device, to facilitate understanding, memory etc.

Not sure if my explanation is clear enough. Please ignore if it doesn't make sense.
