Wade is back at the Versatex facility with John Pace, CEO, Versatex, to explore the TrimBoard Extruder line. Recently, Wade went on a full plant tour. Now we'll look at how three components come together in the extruder to create the product. There's an art and science to creating a board with the perfect thickness, so you'll be mesmerized at the details captured in this episode --from the mixtures to the taffy-like material to the cooling and cutting, you'll get a full look at the process.

Note to camera operator: when the man in the red shirt is talking about the 50 inch sheet die and roller, a great thing to show on camera would be the 50 inch sheet die and roller. I used to work in an extrusion plant. The entire point of the entire business is the extruded material coming out of the die & how much it shrinks in the first few inches after coming out of the die. We did not see that here. That’s the art he is talking about. Temperature differences in the building from day to day from something like a cold front passing makes the operator’s job interesting to keep the line adjusted so that you end up with the correct width & thickness of the extrusion out a couple of hundred feet from the die. We missed all of that here.
