Great video! I must note that Estonia did not declare independence in 1991, but declared the restoration of independence that was first declared in 1918 and which was then recognized by the Soviets. The 1991 declaration was for restoring the same republic that had been established in 1918 and that was illegally occupied by the USSR in 1940. Huge difference, because the occupation was illegal and should not be recognized in any way.

While the attacks continued for a while, everything pretty much normalized in a day. And it is very certain that the attacks were coordinated, since many of them were traced back to a government building in St. Petersburg.

I completely missed this having left Latvia 3 years earlier. In English this is called Silver Nights and only learned about it after returning couple of years ago. While people say that communications in Estonia were restored within a day, reports from Europe say that it was virtually cut off from the rest of the world for days, a complete media blackout. Russians try to gaslight about this to this day, but lately the most egregious Soviet occupation monuments can be relocated or removed without problems. I regret we haven't kept them in a big museum like Lithuania for a historical display and reminder, but most are scattered trough cemeteries or indoor museums. We should make a special outdoor propaganda museum, besides just the Occupation one. Our biggest monument was controversial for quite disgusting reasons and design, you know if you know. It was built as part of late Soviet propaganda only in mid-80s, when economy was already so damaged that every citizen was forced to pay directly for its construction. It is not for Russia to decide where the monuments will be for its former colonies.

Great vid! Just keep the background music lower next time please? It really started to mix with speech too much. Cheers!

I remember how russian rioters started to vandalise everything around in city breaking windows and similar. Very instinctive people who overreact for nothing.

Imagine how stupid one needs to be to overreact like this for a damn statue which was just moved to another place.

I think it is also important to diversify the security approaches so that there are layers of protection...not putting all our eggs in one basket.

Like always, Russia is protecting the Russian minority in a neighboring country. In this case, Estonia.
