Not many dealership owners would do a video with 7 reasons not to buy from a dealership. I've been following and watching you guys for awhile now, I'm impressed with your integrity as Christian men. The world needs more people like yourselves. Please continue the good work and walking the narrow path. Love of our Lord to you Brothers.

I just learned all of this in the last few days. I have bought new cars numerous times and got great deals even with the dealer doc fees (usually $300) the same I assume can rarely be said about motorcycle dealers. I live in AZ and we mostly have Ridenow, Nash, and Harley dealers, very little in-between. I've wanted a Vulcan s for a while and decided to throw out some offers. I found 2019 Vulcan S ABS at Ridenow listed at $6400. I sent in an offer of $7000 OTD expecting to get a reasonable counteroffer. They hit me back with $8900 OTD. That works out to about $1600 in fees after tax.tilte, and license and I'm being generous with cost of title and license. I found a 2018 Cafe for $5900 at a local Harley dealer, they gave me $8190 OTD. They didn't have to assemble this bike, at best they did a safety inspection and changed some fluids. Again another $1200-$1400 in fees. I'll just wait for what I want to be available privately, someone else can bite that fee bullet for me.

*tastes oil* ah yes this is a vintage synthetic 2018 oil from Germany. It has a hint of oak so I can tell it was produced in May and there was sunny weather on the day it was poured.

8. Bait and switch tactics.
9. OTD pricing is rarely OTD pricing.

Reason 8 the bike depreciates in value once purchased so you can find a good deal on a used bike and flip it for profit or sell for what you originally bought it for. Can't really do that with new bike out the showroom

All those dealer mark-ups depreciate IMMEDIATELY once you leave the dealership. Just ask your insurance company.
Freight, doc, assembly etc. is included in the MSRP. If any dealership tries to charge you over MSRP, report them to the BBB.

I would buy a bike from you in a heart beat, given the right price. Why? Simple, I trust you.

Your points were valid however, there are advantages from buying from a Dealer such as warranties and extended warranties, prepaid service agreements, if you buy the bike used from a dealer the bike is looked over and inspected for defects. Virtually everyone that has owned a bike has in some shape or form fucked with the bike and there will be hidden issues that you inherit. I don't want to inherit someone else problem. In the area of motorcycles I'm not mechanically inclined so I would rather buy new and focus on riding then fixing motorcycles.

I prefer buying from a dealer when its a long distance purchase, I only saw pictures of the bike as Im in Canada and they are in Texas. I bought a one year old Harley Night Train from Dream Machines of Texas and it was exactly as they said it was and then some. Safer than buying from a private party in this case. Otherwise gr8 advise from Sean.

I always taste the oil when inspecting a vehicle. That's how you can tell how fresh it is.

Private or throw a used dealer it’s always a risk even when you know what you’re looking at. There is good and bad with both ways of buying in my view.

Shaun, a few years ago I told you that in a video comment that it's dump to buy from a dealer. After watching you for a while I am ready a) to apologize for being rude b) if I end up buying a RK it will most likely be from you without even seeing the bike in person. You have earn my trust. No joke.

Very spot on with your 7 points here. This is precisely why I have always bought my cars and cycles privately for 25+ years. Point #8 for buying in a private deal is you MUST approach the deal more than happy to walk away if the vehicle has some warning flags or if the price is not right. You don't need to grind the seller into the ground on price... But I never deal with the seller that thinks he is going to get anywhere close to retail for his vehicle

1. They don't really have your best interest in mind
2. They over charge with dealers fees
3. They don't work with your situation
4. But if you want brand new, unadulterated, not surprises, untouched bike.... then the ends justify the means.

At one time my friend offered to sell me his Yamaha Special 500 for about $600.00. The only reason he was selling it was because he outgrew the bike and was moving up to a 750/800. I wish I bought it when he was selling it. Great running, garage kept.

Just bought a 2005 Yamaha R6 for $1000. I changed the spark plugs and coil packs. Now it runs amazing

Why would I get pissed? Those points are mostly valid and they are your opinion. I can respect that. Dang glad I have a great dealership that I trust though.
