Welcome to the real world. Your day in the life at Google sounded exactly like it was a Cisco Systems pre 2007. Then everything fun and good at Cisco stopped. Then the foreigners took over. Then the misery began. Id use an old pc with Linux firewall/router before id buy or recommend to buy another Cisco product.

When a company tells you that you're laid off, that's when they consult you about being laid off. FFS. Also, the layoffs weren't "random". The individuals may have been random, but the positions/departments where they select people for layoffs were absolutely not "random". Here's a hint: if you have time to eat eat high-end food a couple times, pet dogs, wander around making videos, hang out, and play games, all around a busy schedule of 2 meetings in an entire work day, you're going to be one of the first to get laid off...every damn time.
