There are two main reasons why you should charge to 80% for daily use, rather than 90% or 100%:

1. Battery longevity: Lithium-ion batteries, which power most EVs, experience stress when kept at high or low charge levels for extended periods. Charging to 100% puts the battery in a stressed state, while letting it drain below 20% does the same. Keeping the charge level between 20% and 80% minimizes stress and helps the battery maintain its capacity and lifespan for longer. Charging to 80% regularly can potentially increase the battery's overall lifespan by several years.

2. Charging speed: Most EV charging systems slow down significantly as the battery approaches 100%. This means going from 80% to 100% can take just as long, or even longer, than going from 20% to 80%. By stopping at 80%, you can charge much faster and get back on the road sooner.

I'm a little paranoid, when charging at home. I think the cord feels warm, my infrared digital thermometer shows it increases about 10 sure I'm being over cautious but thought I'd ask others if they felt this way....A neighbor with a Tesla says his cable gets warm also, , , thanks for any input
