HI IM BACK I WORKED REALLY REALLY HARD ON THIS OVER THE COURSE OF LIKE 3 MONTHS AND ITS FINALLY DONE HUZZAH!!! i had lots of fun i hope u can tell!

this amv is about hopelessness, the inevitability of time, and airy succumbing to his fate :]

new pinned because the old one was really lame and arbitrary and i’ve grown more repulsed by the words “cryptic” and “symbolism” mainly due to how trite they feel lmao. anyway on a more personal note, this amv was made during a stage in my life where i was terribly existential and obsessive over the concept of time. in a way, i was trying to soothe myself by putting that crisis in art form. i purposefully made it puzzling and abstract, not to appear esoteric but to encourage the viewer to think past exterior (God knows the osc needs to fucking comprehend something for once like please have faith in your own intelligence you’re way smarter than you think), and hopefully comfort them if they were disturbed in the same way i was while making this. anyway, i should probably clear up a few things
1. the strange airy bird worm thing isn’t airy, or fanon airy, it’s actually not physically real at all. it is a visual manifestation of airy’s demise, and it makes itself more prominent throughout the animation as that is ultimately what this is about. it’s death. remember, pretty much ev’rything that happens in this is purely allegorical.
2. airy’s soul is the sun. this is actually semi-canon. in one 18, the sun is absent from the plane after airy dies.
3. that strange six eyed creature airy’s on the phone with is stone. stone is trying to warn him, but to no avail as in tandem the winged airy death creature thing emerges from time.
4. 1:15 - 1:26 is an amigara fault reference because i like junji ito! airy sees his silhouette in the stone has a broken head, that’s why he claws his eye out, in order to fit into the silhouette. it’s a touch of irony because airy starts off denying his fate, then he gradually begins to conform to it because of the illusion of control.
5. 00:33 that is airy’s face. it’s a funny little warning. it seems ev’rybody’s getting warned in this video hahaha those darn auguries
6. the song itself is about a nightlight, sung from the nightlight’s point of view. while i didn’t incorporate its literal meaning, i wanted to pay homage to its character; something that comforts in coexistence with turmoil. we are intrinsically afraid of what we cannot control, but ultimately the indifference of this universe is to serve as a comfort and not a threat; ev’rything that happens is meant to happen and will happen regardless of what you do, and that’s fine.

aaaanyway. i did not expect this to get as popular as it did. i’m very glad it gets to enjoy popularity. what i’m disappointed about is how people (not ev’ryone but too many people) are still taking it at face value despite the lengths i’ve gone for that to specifically not happen. it’s kind of just been boiled down to these unnecessary and vapid internet terms like “Omg this is so biblically accurate weirdcore aesthetic silly billy analog horror moment” but then again the Y’all Don’t Wanna Hear Me Ya Just Wanna Dance phenomenon can very well apply to any medium of art, , ,

ik i already commented but this amv is awesome so here are my fav tiny details
-the intro being a refrence to the song itself, which is about those blue bird nightlights
-airy frequently being portrayed like a biblically accurate angel/eldritch creature, symbolizing the god like power he has over people on the plane
-ALL THE PLANE REFRENCES. like the telephone and the pie and the object plane itself
-how the papers he’s holding in that one scene are akin to the notes stone leaves
-every clock reading 1:11 (which was mentioned by the creator in a community post but it’s ok i wanna mention it too)
-also the color scheme in general is my fav thing ever

1:01 marigolds, which are also known as the flowers of the dead, birdhouses which are also shown a lot also represent the dead. 

Marigolds also represent the fragility of life which could also go with 1:24 how airy shatters his fragile head, which the head is the most important part in the body (which how in 1:01 he is also holding the flowers in the spot where he shatters his face later on)

0:14 bees, they represent abundance, focus, and dedication. like how airy could be focused on the show or the contestants on leaving

this also contains lots of imagery of birds and wings which represent improvement, freedom and messengers from god

1:32 we have airy coming out of a birdhouse with wings, which could represent his death as previously said, birdhouses represent dead ones and wings/birds represent freedom which airy is freed after dying

1:41 airy creates a light, which lights represent understanding of intellectual thought.

in 1:10 the time is shown to be 1:11 which the angel number 111 also means abundance and dedication, similar meaning to the bees

the song in the background could be inspired by the poem “Hope is the thing with feathers” by Emily Dickinson. which could add more meaning to this imagery

The poem reads:
Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without the words and never stops at all. Sweetest in the Gale is heard And sore must be the storm that could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm. I’ve heard it in the chillest land and on the strangest Sea. Yet never in Extremity, It asked a crumb of me.

1:03 theres the sun, the sun represents divinity and power. which could be airys power over the contestants or something. in 1:28 theres a sun or orb of light in the bird airys eye. Maybe this winged airy is supposed to represent freedom, power, intellectual thoughts, and divinity or something

this song is also about a blue canary nightlight. the bird is the one that "watches over you" but in this context, its airy. Every time the song says "he watches over you" it shows airy and the plane. which could mean that airy is constantly watching the contestants, even at night. at 0:01 airy is on the lightswitch and blue, like the canary light.

0:45 right here the bird airy flies over a clock, clocks represent time and morality

(observation by at 1:30 the eyes in the right and left corner briefly display roman numerals, it being I and XI which translates to 1 and 11, basically the angel number 111 being displayed again. The same roman numerals are also at 1:33 in the weirdly long airy

(observation by @Ivaan11990) Airy is shown as a bird, shakesphere used birds to represent chaos and destruction and in genesis 1:11 god creates plants, basically how airy is creating all of these things for the contestants

It’s so weird because I feel so connected to him with the wings for hands, the looks like the person I see at night, yes I am aware that “he is only in a show and not real” I’m not saying that I’m saying that he reminds me so much of him.. and I always thought it was him. I’m pretty sure now.. I’m so sure I have seen him before in my room talking to me.. I’m so positive.
