Coming this September is a new playing experience that delivers a quieter sound without losing the authentic feel of a Zildjian cymbal. The L80 Low Volume cymbal is up to 80% quieter than a traditional cymbal and is the perfect solution for practice spaces, small drum lesson rooms, low volume gigs or anywhere you want to play hard, but not loud.

Glad to see some people in the music industry have real ideas matching today's needs.
There's no use becoming deaf in your rehearsal room.

This is nice! Practice isn't all about the sound, it's about the feel, the movements, the repetition. Might have to pick me up a set!

I got the 13/14/16 combination along with remo silent stroke. I can practice hours a day, make myself tired and exhausted, and work on tedious drills repeatedly without pissing off my neighbors or killing my ears. People say that silent strokes condition you to expect more rebound from a drumhead; I beg to differ that it demonstrates an undampened bounce, which lets you practice moeller strokes of much much longer lengths (6, 8, 12 taps per-stroke). I love this stuff!

The only thing I see that they don't have available in this series and would be great to have, is at least a 20" Ride.

I heard them at Salt city drums the other day and they blew me away how good they sounded. The feel with playing them was awesome as well.. At least it was for me. I wanted some as soon as I heard them....

I hope that "low" means for the price, too.

I already have the silent mesh heads that came with my Pearl Rhythm Traveler drum set.  These seem like a good match.  My Church has Zildjian A cymbals, so this is ideal for practice.  It's cheaper than buying an electric drum kit.  And hopefully it's more affordable than the Gen 16 cymbal packs.

Mmmh.... Very interesting indeed.
Might even make practicing on an acoustic even more awesome for people with noise restrictions...
Dare I say, good move zildjian?

Great idea! I'd been thinking of buying Gen16 cymbals for practice at home. This is exactly what I was after!

In a house with kids who need to nap and/or go to bed early, this is fantastic.

Can you demonstrate how they sound with a right handed player? Also, can they be used in a hard rock situation?

Now I can practice a real drum kit without getting a noise complaint. The only qualm I have is the silent stroke heads give waaayyyy more rebound than your standard head, which is bad when you transition back over.

I heard the Gen 16 cimbals. These still have a pretty good sound. I wonder if these new L80 can compete with them. Otherwise you'd better buy the Gen 16 cymbals without the pickups.

These are only great and valuable if matched with the Remo Silent Stroke drum heads. Which is actually a great thing.
