OMG you're an expert camera angel. I'm going to a concert shoot today and your tutorial is going to be used. I am getting ready to change those settings i currently have and now I'm excited to see the difference. I do believe that I do exceptional with photography but with these tips OMG I should be pretty much perfect. The way you explain is not confusing, it makes good clear sense and I'm able to follow what you are saying. NO WONDER you have that beautiful camera in wait to listen to other videos you have done, would love to work with you.

Hi David. Can you do a tutorial or two part tutorial on the 1DX Mark 3 for beginners from a photography point of view and a videographer point of view? This is a powerful camera and I'm learning that the auto settings are perfect.

"AF On" button. Have not used before. Going to try for sports action. Hopefully a game changer!. Thank you

Fantastic! I have been shooting for many years but never used back finger focusing aND my new- used camera is set up for that.

Thanks for a deeper look at some of the mark III features and how to keep a better focus on moving subjects. Can't wait for you to due a more in-depth look at the mark III 1dx.

I have a Panasonic GH5 as well and I love that you can expand the focus zone with the same control that handles the aperture. It's great. You can just toggle the zone really small to large and the little squares on the LCD get farther apart. Wish my 1dx mark iii had that.

Your intro for Ask David Bergman, it's short, it's quirky, it's fun and it's probably one of my favourite intros on Youtube. Just saying.

Thanks so much for this excellent and to-the-point tutorial on this topic. It finally cleared up all the confusion I was having on optimizing the focus settings on my 1d Mk III

Thank you for this...I know nothing of the Canon ecosphere...been shooting Nikon for 20+ years but they just can’t get it done anymore and that 1DXIII is everything I have ever wanted in a flagship body.

Interesting video! Is there a way about not using a button to constant focusing when you are in AI Servo mode, and leave the camera just doing focus without press constantly the button? I'm referring to video mode! Thanks! :-)

4:19 "if you use a tiny spot you gotta keep that sucker right on your subject" and therein lies the benefit of shooting and getting experience. In sports shooting this can be tough. Thanks for the videos.

I use my camera mostly for family pics, grandkids sports and special functions, so I’m not a professional by no means, I simply want my pics to turn out great, nothing deep or too difficult! I have a Canon EOS 60 D and use to try shooting in P, TV, AV or M but had too many problems with my pics turning out even descent, so I started shouting in AUTO MODE, so it takes the thinking out! Lol! And was then having trouble with focus when shooting my granddaughters basketball games, so hopefully with the advice of your video today, I won’t have that probably anymore! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! 👍😉
Do you have any other suggestions for settings when taking pics at the basketball games?

Great video! I shoot sports action in the 1DX Mark II and mostly the 70-200 2.8. How did you record your live view screen? Could it be done in a portable way? I'm wanting to make a few vlog type things going to sports events and would want to be able to record my screen with the focus points and whatnot.

Super helpful! Question. Is face tracking the best when taking a photo of multiple runners?
Once the runner passes, will I need to quickly switch off of face tracking to get them in focus from their back side?

Thank you!

The AF menu you show in this video is not the same AF screen on my Canon 1DX.The first screen shows the different cases, tracking sensitivity and access/decel tracking. I wish I could find this screen and set eye detection but the menu you show, I cannot find anywhere on my Canon 1DX Mark III. I have been struggling with getting crisp focus with this camera and sure it is something I am failing to do and would love to figure out where I am missing! I would greatly appreciate any feedback on how you are setting eye detection on the 1DX MarkIII

Hello David, nice tuto. Do you have similar tips for Nikon camera (AF-C...) ? I have a d750 and it doesn't have a eye detection. Which mode would you advise to use for fashion, portrait photography and sport when subject is moving and you want to keep eye sharp, especially at F/1.4..F/2.8 ?

Thank you!!! I am thinking shutter speed would also be a factor in getting sharp focus of subjects running toward you? By the way, your model was fun to watch :)

Nice explanation.. but I'm confused as to choose which AF expansion mode as there are 3 such modes.
