Fascinating how a machine better than a century old is still restorable. You are methodical and meticulous, two qualities that help with any task.

I love to watch you take such heavy machines apart with such exquisite delicacy. The respect is obvious. Thanks for making these videos. I love em.

Another benefit of videoing what you're doing assists in correct reassembly later on.

Hi Keith, another excellent video - I'm really impressed with what you're doing and very envious of your workshop. Cheers.

This is turning into a *really* great piece of work! Personally it is always the dis/assembly of the more intricate, mechanical features that I find the most interesting over scraping ways or whatever. At my own home I have so many abused, left in the rain to rust bits and pieces of machinery from my grandfather's and great uncle's workshops that look to be very much in a state similar to those things you dissembled today. I could not even begin to renovate my stuff and as the video played I started out thinking 'good luck! you won't get _those_ apart!' and then to see you actually *do* get them to pieces is truly fascinating and oddly rewarding in a second-hand kind of way.

Excellent work Keith!!! I am already looking forward to the next entry in this saga.

Another bite of the elephant. I actually enjoy watching painting as a part goes from grotty to nice.

I really enjoy these disassembly videos. It is very interesting to see how the pieces work together to perform a given task.

Nice to see some different bits from back in the day. When there isn't a whole worm gear it would be called a worm and sector.

A real pleasure watching you expertly break that assembly down. You can see the high quality of the old machine in the consistently beautiful way the parts fit together. Amazing how durable tanned leather is---so many shoes and boots were perfectly preserved in the Titanic's debris field.

When I grew up we had a piece of farm equipment that had a trip clutch with leather disks in it, brought back old memories .

Suggestion'

Bore the worn Babbitt bearings to clean up. Check for common center height after boring.

Make the new shaft with bearing journals to suit. Saves re-Babbitting.

I like to have a length of chain on the table as a barrier to keep round parts from rolling away.
