As an academic in the realm of Christian history/theology, I just looked through Ortlund’s PhD dissertation, and from the few minutes I took to read some of it, he made an assertion that “no scholar had said x” in his ABSTRACT. I then looked for 5 minutes online and found an article saying exactly that. The author of the article was one whom he wrote an entire section of his dissertation about, without citing this 1995 article. That is a major red flag. I’m surprised his committee didn’t catch it. There were many other quality issues I could identify as well. His conclusion sections were very poorly written for a finished product.

The Church of England owns most of our historic church's, and is currently in the process of selling them to be turned into mosques, or rock climbing clubs, or in the case of those they still own ripping out the centuries old woodwork and holding discos and yoga inside.

Oh and the archbishop is a full on communist and regularly condemns the British people for existing. (He is giving £1 billion pounds to black people, this is despite them regularly complaining about not having enough money to fix roofs or do anything helpful)

From an EO - very based take on Ortlund, I don’t think there’s a single person on our side either who takes him or his arguments seriously. Once he tried to argue for iconoclasm based on Elvira he completely lost all credibility he had up until that point (which was close to zero). Suan and Albrecht did an excellent job tearing apart his sources on his icon veneration video, that’s probably why Ortlund’s mad, and can only offer ad hominems against Albrecht at this point, I.e., “but he’s not a scholar!1!1!” Gavin mainly seems driven by pride and his own hubris. The credential game from him is no surprise either, note how his intro card for his videos is always “Dr. Gavin Ortlund, PhD, ” as if he learned anything at all from doing a PhD in who knows what. We can confidently write him off as another James White at this point. No reason to take him seriously at all. His comment sections are particularly nauseating, their overblown sycophantism is ridiculous.

The Anglican orthodoxy the ACNA and the wider GAFCON with their based African Anglicans are trying to restore is just the state of Anglicanism from the mid 70s to the mid 90s. That's not good enough.
