Movie Summary - The story is about a young gymnast Dan Millman played by Scott Mechlowicz, and his struggle to make sense of his life in which he is successful but still unfulfilled. By chance he meets his "Yoda"/Shaolin priest/Boss Paul who helps him "git his haid straight" after which he goes on to be comfortable with his athletic prowess albeit not exactly Olympic caliber. There is a lot of jumping around scene wise during which we don't know what is dream (part of getting his head straight) or reality showing his maturing personality. He suffers a debilitating physical injury which forces him to work very hard to get back where he was ability wise earlier, but much wiser for successfully negotiating his transformation to wise old Grasshopper. This is almost a "Rocky IX" type movie with a wonderful happy ending.

If you care about the score he made at the end, or if the movie is actually a true event, or precisely how many flaps he did at the end, or if he won a gold, or set a world record, trust me you didn't learn anything and need to watch this film again.
Honestly, even if this film ended after the garage scene when he says "it doesn't matter", I would have loved it as much.
WOW, this movie has changed my life.

I also like the little scene at the end when his friend asks him for a tip at the competition. His head is full of thoughts about things that have nothing to do with him. The main character realizes "It's useless to show you something you're not ready for". Life tests us again and again. We will only learn if we are ready for it. That's why everyone is at exactly the point in their life where they belong. True understanding cannot be forced, it comes to you when you are ready for it.

Last October when i was training Gymnastics alot and handbalancing My scapula started winging. I looked it up and it has to do with the long thoracic nerve. Now soon I am about to see a physical therapist to heal my nerve to do gymnastics again! i cannot wait and i won't give up!

It’s a shame Scott Mechlowicz hasn’t become more prominent in Hollywood. Peaceful Warrior, Mean Creek, Eurotrip; it looked like he was on the road to becoming the next big thing

One of the few trailers that i can watch over and over that reminds me about whats really important. It's sad that this movie, book and others like it like *into the wild* are so underrated and or not as popular
