In the UK the shelf stable Parmesan is labelled as “Italian style hard cheese”

One of the biggest benefits of living in the EU is the consumer protection regarding those things

I feel like these are so fun to make. each script is 200ish words and he can (and appears to) record them in one take! A very cool and fun project

Maybe interesting too is I (european) have literally never seen pamesello in store or heard of it before = everything is actual parmegiano

Another misconception is that the powdered stuff has sawdust in it. It has cellulose powder as a anti-caking agent, but that's different from sawdust.
Sawdust also is partially made of cellulose (hence the confusion) but not all cellulose is sawdust.

Love you so much dude. You're hitting on such a high level. You're connecting so many dots. You're just wiping the fog off my map. I can see clearly now the rain is gone

I believe a big part of the EUs protection of terms like that is their origin. So you could find something thats fresh and the same, but not called Parmesan.

If my childhood is to be believed, the proper term is "sprinkle-cheese."

THANK YOU. When I've visited America it's been so different, so I need to get parmigiana Reggiano

so annoying how much worse labeling restrictions are in the US. The fact that Arbys can say they have a Wagyu burger as a marketing campaign is just so lame and misleading

Also we don't pronounce it "Parma-john", but "parma-zan"

Also parmesan is a type of cheese with several varieties. Parmigianino Regiano is the most renowned, Grana Padano is also quite popular, but you also have other minor ones...

man i've been sprinkling parmesan in my hair for years to keep local animals interested at the park

on my last visit to europe it just didn't hit the same. just felt clumpier and too thick and got moldy after a while. Now i know why!!

You also have to look closely at the label. A lot of cheap shelf stable stuff says "100% grated parmesan." That's 100% grated. Not 100% parmesan.

The pronunciation of Parmejawn and Parmeshawn always makes me laugh.

Thank you for teaching me the word Pamesello! My friend told me that what I think is parmasan isn't really parmasan and I said "Well, I don't know what it is. But I know I like it!" And now I can say I like Pamasello!
