5 BIGGEST PET PEEVES of a Solo Traveler

Today I discuss/rant about the things that get on my nerves and as a product of the irritating nature of the subject for me, I ended up ranting for 12 ish minutes. I am sorry about that. While I love solo traveling because it allows me to do and see whatever I want whenever I want, I am also human and prone to the occasional irritated feeling. In this video I discuss those irritations in a long rambling format. Thanks for listening, I feel better now.

Oh yeah people are so nosy! I travel by myself sometimes, surf by myself and sometimes hike (easy hikes) by myself. People try to give unsolicited lectures all the time. It can be difficult to find someone to join you and coordinate dates and times, so it’s far easier to just go yourself. I honestly have a lot more fun by myself.

There's that old wry joke: "So, you went to Hawaii! What was it like?" . . . "It was long and black and had a white line down the middle . . ."

Good stuff. Feel free to make a part 2 or turn this into an ongoing series. Love the reenacted safety quiz conversations.

Enjoyed this. Nominate you for best actress, supporting actress, writer, director, cinematographer, film editor, original screen play... in best short subject comedy... and... umm.... that might not cover the depth and breadth of your talent... and it doesn't speak to your warm, affable, engaging personality... awesome angie... ;)

1. Tree fell on my house (condemned), had it fallen this way rather than that way... Well, I wouldn't be typing this.
2. People are sheep. I'll park in the north 40 of a parking lot (to help me remember WHERE I parked) with no one around. Until the magnetic personality of my car draws them in - even when there are wide open places all around.
3.As to being forced to only looking at the highway? My travel buddy not only looks in ALL directions, but takes her hands (yes, plural) to point. I left my heart in the Andes in Panama. Can't complain (TOO much), as, like Greyhound, I leave the driving to her. But, as a Nervous Nelly, I don't see the scenery as I am always pointing out how close she is to another car, red lights, etc.
So glad you have AAA!

I feel the same way at the gym when I’m on a treadmill, there are 15 treadmills available but that one person has to come and use the one right next to me.

I've traveled alone all my adult life (not full time, but frequently and for long distances) and believe me, the safety quiz is an eternal constant. Even when I don't get fully quizzed, I often get asked (especially by women around my age), "Aren't you scared??" Uhhhh... nope, I'm not. Like you, I just try to remember that the questions come from a caring place and let it go. It's really all you can do.

I travel solo a lot; if people ask me where is my companion, I just tell them my boyfriend or husband will join me later. I don't let strangers know I am traveling by myself. (In fact, most people just assume I have company anyway).

Instead of washing dishes with soap, use white vinegar and water mix 50/50%.

Would you consider doing a video on safety tips? From what you’ve learned so far 😊 I’d love to hear your thoughts and learn something new

As we say here in the South, “Bless their heart.” So sorry that you get so many crazy questions. Have fun and keep those videos coming. They make my day 😊.

Lol. As someone who also travels alone and is also indecisive, the struggle is real.
Your hairdresser impersonation is on point. My favorite are the "Wow, you're brave, " comments from other women, which dependent on tone either mean "I wish I could be like you" or "Bless your heart, you're going to die."

It’s funny how your video lines up with the time I told the travel agent at AAA that I was traveling to Northern California from Southern California and all she could do was focus on asking me if I was scared. Then I started thinking…..”Should I be???”Ugh.

You are SO wonderful...I love watching your videos. As a psychologist, I have to say I love your attitude and sense of adventure. So many people don't live their authentic lives due to the opinions of others! Good for you! 🎉

My wife would go on solo concert tours of her favorite band and always get people shocked that she was by herself. Get out there, see things and have fun! Safety third! Love the videos, keep it up!
