US Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon at Pacers Halftime 4/19/12

An amazing performance by the greatest drill team on earth. I had the honor of attending this game with several Marines I served with and then getting to meet the Silent Drill Platoon members after the game. Inspiring. Motivating. Impressive.

My first year and the first show on the Silent Drill Team, as it was called in 1977, we were in what we the call “The Long Line “ when we throw up the M1 and spin it, I lost control and the dang thing got away from me and stuck straight up perfectly in the ground of the football field right behind me . The “Inspector” Sgt. Gregory Hise front Anderson Indiana ceremoniously pulled the weapon out of the ground walked around to the front of me, spun it a few times and threw it back to me looking as if it was part of the show …The Drill Team Moto was always, if in doubt spaz out, but the name of the game is RECOVER !!! “Long Live The United States Marine Corps !” And The “Silent Drill Platoon”!

Marine loses cover lands on deck at 137 Platoon leader (no rifle) 7 to 8 minutes retrieves cover and places on head of Marine who lost it. Also saw the same thing on the Invictus games performance Lost cover, replaced cover. So they have a standard procedure for that event.
