What's the punishment for missing a catch or throwing a rifle to high or far to be caught?

is there a reason that the 2 guys took their bayonets off when the drill master was tossed the rifle? if so why?
Also why did the one marine bring his rifle out when the marine missed the catch fro being tossed to high?

I've seen the Marine Corps drop the rifle three times. That has got to be bothersome for the drill team. I would feel incompetent and never show my face again ! Probably because I am a Marine !
