Wait, an Intel chip that's cheaper than an AMD's and also has better performance?!

Which dimension is this?!

I'm an AMD fanboy.
but intel did a good job with i5 10400F.

that's good for everyone.

This video is misleading "IF" you're running a b460 or h410 motherboard. Maximum supported ram on these boards is 2666mhz ram and the performance is noticeably worse in that case. Please vote up for people to know.

I really hope Intel keeps releasing these budget i5's for around 150$, they're such a great all-around value

This is possibly the best 10th gen value

Without the competition I could totally see us being stuck with 4 cores 8 threads in 2020.

good JOB intel, intel forced amd to manufacture the ryzen IN 2017, and amd forced intel to move in 2020, imagine you have an i7 8700 (i5 10400f) for less than $ 200, this is the competition

I was an Intel user for my entire life until 2019, now I switched to AMD because they have done a big favor to consumer benefits. Now don't call me an AMD fan because I used Intel for 11 years ever since my 1st computer/laptop(Intel Core2 Duo). when I was 14. Without AMD we PROBABLY still using quad core in our pc right now. Now that Intel forced to step up their core counts, I hope these two companies keep on racing so they can continue unlocking new possibilities in cpu industry. Just imagine the possibilities of the future both in gaming and productivity side. I hope this will never stop just like when Intel got the total upper hand before and AMD not doing the same thing Intel did(imo they just being lazy because of too comfortable from AMD struggles). Now that I'm getting old(not that 25 considered that old, but you know what I mean), I hope I get to experiences all the cool tech coming near the future.
edit: didn't notice I write an essay, I'm copying this comment for future..lol

Great tests, matches ours perfectly, despite criticism we received on our all core 4ghz / 3.7ghz cache/uncore simulation on the 8700k. We all know it is the same IPC and the games tested have verified to stick to all core boost (no thermal boost velocity on this CPU). The only test we excluded was CS GO as it tends to lean more towards single threads and moves around on the turbo table.

Thank you. Was looking into a new intel cpu until I ran into that stuttering mess called the 9400f. That really turned me off the idea. Hopefully this is a much more stable option @ a great price for a 10th gen.

It's worth mentioning if you read the description he's running a z490 board (£140+) with 3600hz ram, this is an unlikely pairing with a budget cpu like this & the lower end cheaper boards (B460M) are locked @ 2666mz which will change these fps results by quite a bit.
I do like the 10400f a lot and was quite tempted to go this route but in the end with the cost of the motherboards for intel the price starts to even out once again making the option locked Intel platform vs unlocked AMD platform & having the option to upgrade to an even better cpu when prices drop in a year or 2.

3600 still gets my vote!

Point to note, he is running a 10400f on a z490 board thus enabling 3600 mhxz ram, the story is quite diff with 2666 mhz, which is the max on b460 unlike b450 which can handle 3600 mhz, watch gamersnexus' video on it, if you are goign z490 you shouldn't go with a 10400f but a 10600k.
