The irony of all this was that they (NIVDIA and AMD) both said that they'd rather have gamers buying their cards, but when miners stopped buying, they blamed the crypto bust for their issues with oversupply. It's both ironic and hypocritical of them, to have said they didn't want the sales, then blame the lack of sales for the losses

I can't believe some people thought Crypto was a small percentage of Nvidia's business. It's literally the most important thing that ever happened to Nvidia in 2017 and 2018.

The problem with the gene editing is not that it's a gateway to designer babies but more along the fact that the scientist community don't now what the side effects of this type of editing will bring.. In nature you NEVER give without taking away as it's about balance.. So being immune to HIV might leave out the part of the DNA for proper intelligence development ( as an example )
Also, with this new strand of DNA, what will the future generations be affected by once this new strand starts mixing into the Gene pool? What are the effects of this gene actually mixing with the current balanced strands ?

What if this strand has "Weak Bonds" causing rapid tissue decay - which is a serious concern, the children might only have a life span of 20 - 30 years ..

Because of our understanding of cloning and gene editing is still very in it's infant stage, the world recognized and actually passed into international law that this sort of work could not be done on humans. This guy just did it without consideration of all the implications ..
Sure it's a novel idea to be immune to such a disease but what is the cost?
