🎶You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You’ll never know dear,
How much I love you
Please don’t take
My sunshine away...🌞

Music boxes are really magical, crystal clear yet lifeless, they make you happy and cry at the same time

My dad gave me a flower that plays this song before he passed away

Please don't take my sunshine away 😭

2 lost cat in 2 years. Wherever they are, I hope they're not suffering in this cruel world.

Whenever this song plays, two things come to mind: My mother singing this to me as a kid, and my best friend, who was a ray of sunshine to me. Unfortunately, Covid took my sunshine away.

I'll miss her dearly...

After you came home from work and wanted to watch youtube, suddenly got recommended for this video. Then you accidentally pressed and listened to the song that reminded you of your childhood with your parents before they passed away.

It's a beautiful song, no doubt.
But the first thing that came to my mind was that this song is hella fitting for a horror film.
Like one of those scenes where everything is quiet, then all of a sudden one of those toys that also functioned as music boxes would move on its own and come rolling down the hall and stop at your feet. Like...THAT is what came to mind.

This is the song I hummed to my dog as he took his last breaths when we had to put him down. 😭 I think about him every day still and it’s been two months.

I remember it so well... my mom was standing there in front of me, she looked like an angel. She was so pretty, so majestic. I remember her singing this to me with the sun beaming through the window onto her face. Her singing was beautiful... it was so nice. I was 3 at that time... the best memory I have of that year. She never sings anymore... she never smiles... she never gets out of bed. I miss her old self. She is still here, but I never see her anymore. The only time I see her is when scolding me for what I have done.

Sorry about my bad grammar, I am 12

It's interesting to see every person's perspective of this version. Mine is absolutely painful cause I dedicate the original song to my dog who passed away a few months ago and I really miss it so freaking much. ☹️ But at the same time makes me feel in peace. 💜

I gifted my wife a little wooden music box that played this for our two-year anniversary. In September this year, she passed away and hearing this always makes me sob so goddamn hard. We were married for two years. "Please don't take my sunshine away..."

It's about to rain in the afternoon, and I'm listening to this. Feels so uneasy and comfortable at the same time

My granda said my great grandma used to sing this to him and his brothers and sister in 1940s/50s. My granda is still alive and well but sadly two of his brothers are not. My great grandma died too, 8 years ago. 😔
It's beautiful though that parents have sang this song to their kids for generations and still sing it to this day. It will probably stand the test of time for more generations to come.

How does this manage to be relaxing, depressing, and horrifying all at the same time
