What to see and do in Klaipeda, Lithuania. From the curonian spit and the sand dunes by Nida to the Hill of Witches at Juodkrante to the nightlife and beaches right nearby, Klaipeda, Lithuania is a nice town to visit when you are passing through Lithuania. The best time to visit is in Summer in July during the Sea Festival when the city has so many things on offer for tourists and visitors. There is even an international English speaking university LCC, Lithuanian Christian College so English is spoken quite often around town.

Some of Our Favorite Travel Videos We Think Other Travelers Would Love

Our Travel Gear:
Microsoft Surface, Travel Laptop: We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

Camera Sony Alpha Series: We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

Western Dynamics 4 TB external hard drive. This let's you save your pictures and videos from your SD cards while you travel without having to use a computer.

Manfrotto Tripods: We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

Our Packs/Luggage: Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here

Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

Lithuania is really an underrated country to travel

I lived in Lithuania for 12 years, met my wife and both our kids were born there. In normal times we go back every year.
I moved there for work in the mid nineties. Great place. Getting to Klaipėda and Nida is a long journey if you live in the North East of the country. When we retire we will be moving back.

Thank you Mark for this essential guide. It is so sad that currently Klaipeda is in stagnation due to the pandemic. Streets are empty, no cruise ships, everything is closed... People are waiting for it to be over🙂

Klaipeda is actually a former german town called Memel. All the old remaining buildings are german and the statue is called Ännchen von Tharau the song about her used to be the inofficial hymn of Eastprussia

Sveiki, (hi) youtube algorithm brought me here, so glad to see this video about my hometown, You gave so much information, that I can't easily find any other, except You should really try to attend in Jūros Šventė (Sea Festival) it happens in summer end of July. At this Festival You can buy various souvenirs that are made in Lithuania. Also try a lot of different foods, and in my opinion the best thing about Sea Festival is that You can attend a lot of different events, like free concerts, firework shows, "dancing" fountains and a lot more. Once again, I'm really happy to see this video and really appreciate that You shared it :)

Excellent video as usual. 👍 The wood carvings reminded me of the “superstitions of Lithuania” video from a few years ago. Since that topic is not often covered, those have always been especially interesting to me.
