I watched half a dozen Akaso V50 reviews on YouTube and no one has a door on theirs. I guess the guy who was supposed to pack the door in the box on the assembly line falls to sleep on the job!

I'm now shooting my YouTube videos with a Yi Lite...loving it!

Nice! Ironically I'm doing a video on a budget Action cam but with a little twist. Nice to know action cams still have interest. Great video as always.

The akaso for me seems to have more features such a box full of accessories, remote and waterproof capabilities out the box! I think for me would work best since its going on my helmet and i like recording at 1080 anyways! The remote could be great to have on my handlebars and the stabilization seems better than the yi! Have you tried the akaso v50 elite?

The angle of view in the specs really mean nothing, the manufacturers almost always lie, although the Yi Lite seems to be truthful. It's quite ridiculous that even displaying a lower number for angle of view it could beat the Akaso in that aspect by a large margin, showing the lack of professional integrity of this company that makes this Akaso. I would prefer they made a native 1080p camera with better dynamic range, sharpness and battery life. All this 4k fad basically killed quality improvements in footage over the years, because every drop of power is going to more pixels instead of anything else. Also the battery life probably drops faster because of it. It's easy to see how Yi Lite could keep a better quality with less pixels, but unfortunately the big majority of the population is dumb and think a higher number is always better. Those cameras still have a long way to go in 1080p, 4k is a marketing stretch.

Nice callouts! Are you doing those with Final Cut Pro?

image stabilization akaso seems to be better but it crop more so I wonder if that would change if u change angle of view on YI then image stabilisation may perform better ?

Great video. Tough call with these. I have both too. I found if you do any water videos or photos, since both are in a case, I could only get into settings and switch from video to stills on the akaso. It was the only time I found a drawback to the touch screen. I also prefer the Yi software over Akaso, but in the end, the akaso has been my go to for now. May change though. I didn't get a case with my Yi Lite, but did with the Akaso. Both seem like good value for the money. Thanks for making this comparison video!

One thing about most action cam reviews.... no mention is ever made of PAL and the use of 25 or 50fps. The Yi does this but I’m guessing the Akaso doesn’t which makes it a ‘no go’ for me personally. It wouldn’t be easy to use the footage with other camera footage because of the frame rate and this goes for so many action cams.

YI Lite does 4k @ 15fps not that i think that makes any difference but it does 4k technically.
i like your comparison

Wow, the Akaso is way more stable. Going on a ride through the mountains soon so I'm on the hunt for a good but cheap camera.

So in the side-by-bide biking video the Akaso was being stabilized by the gimbal? Or was it using the build in EIS, because I actually thought the Akaso video looked vastly superior here. If it was being stabilized by the gimbal then it isn't really a good comparison. I'm really interested in a budget cam for biking that has stabilization. Love your channel!

i think i'd prefer the yi over the akaso, they are both good cameras and i was debating which one i like best but i prefer the yi mainly because it has a 150 degree lens and 170 degrees can create too much of a fish eye effect

As a photographer I've been looking for a gopro for vlogging. I'm happy buying for a HD camera. I came across this video and I will say the Yi has a really bad picture quality, the sensor looks from video footage as it only has 2mp camera as there's no detail just mush. I'll watch other videos on this camera. Final thought is I wouldn't be surprised if sales of the Yi stop. The v50 pro has good detail at slow speeds.

I thought the colors on the yi lite were washed out compared to the Akaso. Both looked good though and I'm sure it could easily be fixed in post with some color grading

Judging by this video on the 1080p setting, the Yi Lite dominates the Akaso for image quality. The Akaso has this weird noise pixilated type thing to the image while the Yi Lite has a much smoother sharp crisper image.

How does the Yi Lite compare to the Akaso v50 PRO

Ive noticed that you never talk about the SJCAM when you speak about budget action cameras. Why is that?
