Hey there folks. I just want to pass along some of the joy I feel in my heart, and give others who may be in a dark place some hope today. I've been there. I've been following Raelan's suggestions in her videos and book for 6 months. I had severe CFS for 10+ years. For the first time in all these years I am seeing real change. I just returned from my 35 minute walk and caught myself dancing while doing some light chore. Most importantly, give yourselves lots of love and compassion throughout the process because we are dealing with such a unbelievably different journey. We are all worth it! Raelan, love you to bits!😁

This is great advice. When I was first diagnosed with ME/CFS my then GP told me that I should compare it to bankruptcy. Even on good days you start off in the red, so managing energy use becomes a matter of survival, with self being the first creditor. It took me a very long time to become that organised as a mother of very young children with other demanding major familial issues, in fact a couple of decades!

Great video.. just learning that pacing is the answer… I do an activity then rest and this happens throughout the day. I try and space my physical and mental activities out too so that there isn’t a physical activity followed by a physical activity… thank you so much for your videos ❤️

so important to remember about the dips, and that it doesn't mean that you failed!

Always take deep breaths as much as you can 24/7 if possible, it teaches me to do everything in calmly fashion and not get over excited over anything. When I had it bad and I needed to work, I pushed through by doing deep breathing like almost second of my shift and it helped a lot.

Gosh... thanks for getting us grounded. I had the "pacing" process all wrong as I go about doing all my daily tasks and chores gingerly and not doing a great job if taking care of myself until those instances where I think hmmm.... I better slow down or I'll crash. Doing a quick reset starting now... to truly "Pay Myself First"! Great essential tip! Thank you Raelan!!

Good video and thanks for producing bite sized videos.

Sometimes I see other blogs or videos on CFS/ME and they last far too long for people with limited attention/energy.

By the way, I still help others and do small amounts of voluntary work. This is tremendously fulfilling and gives me a purpose in life. So for me it's a balance between me 1st and me 2nd.

Loved this Raelan. So very true. You can't give to anything if you can't give to yourself first. The same as you can't love others if you don't love yourself. It's all about being holistic and being real. Especially when we are experiencing a dip or a flare up in symptoms. Be kind to yourself. Not beat yourself up by saying. "Looking back I was doing to much, to soon". Like I did last week when I had my recent flare up.
I'm finding recently though, that every flare up I have this fear has now presented itself. Such as, I would like to do this one minute of cleaning but if I do it may push me over and send me backwards.

Thanks a lot for sharing.
Yesterday was the fifth day for changing my food diet and it was the best day for more than a year of illness and fatigue 🙂

Needed to hear this today, had an unsettled few months with lots of external factors affecting my ability to effectively pace, and I'm just trying to get back into it all now having lost quite a bit of my level of functioning over the last year, need to get strict wiht my recovery, make it my everything again, I know it works because I've had some prgoress in the past, bit these reminders are just getting me back in that head space again!!

Thanks for a great video Raelan, taking care of yourself first is what you have to do to help your body heal. I also find that it helps sometimes to give your body a day off for rest when your body warns you that you did too much the day before. You can always go back to what you had planned the next day, that method seems to work for me. I can tell you know CFS well Raelan, what you said makes sense.
