Grand Slam directly engage with their talismanic, legendary founding energy with “Come Together (In Harlem)”, a moody, strutter of a song from the Phil Lynott days with (mostly) Phil Lynott’s lyrics.

“‘Come Together (In Harlem)’ is the only one song on the album which came from ’84,” offers guitarist and co-founding member Laurence Archer, “Phil (Lynott) had a little bit of a thing about pop music as we call it, and he started going down this pop line at the time. I went away, completely rearranged it, wrote another part, and just brought it into our back yard. The whole song is really about ‘let’s come together’. The original subject matter was derived from Harlem by Phil, and we’ve extended the song into something else.”

A modern rock classic, with more natural talent than so many younger groups out there. Grand Slam have a great sound, a great voice, an amazing drummer and a genius guitarist! Deserves big time rock festival gigs and huge album sales.
Can’t stop listening to the album, very catchy and it’ll really pump you up for the day!

L Archer is a brilliant guitarist, I was lucky enough to see him on stage with UFO in Melun in 1992, I still listen to High Stakes And Dangerous Men, this album is really excellent, I wish he'd made more studio albums with them. Grand Slam a perfect album.

I recognize the riff at the beginning. I just like the old demo with Phil better. There felt like there was a bit more soul to it.

I'm not saying this is bad. And I'm glad Lawrence Archer can finally do something with the songs he helped write so long ago.

I just think that the old demo with Phil had a much better vibe and rhythym to it.

Why don't they officially release the songs Phil lynott done with Huey Lewis in 1985.

No swing. No feeling. A sublime song played by clumsy musicians incapable of writing their own new music and who sustain themselves by endlessly betraying the past. RIP Phil Lynott.

Hm. 'Slam just lost me here.. I can not relate. The song "Harlem" had a swing an emotion feel over it. This song here is flat all over. I'm done.

Just can't get over the way you guys dress! Bandana, cap on bandana, backwards Jays. Could've been a rap group from St Petersburg. Why dress down instead of dressing up?
