Unforgettable - Cover by Dean Liapis Circa '90s

Показать описание
Description: "Unforgettable"-Cover of a song by Nat King Cole (written by Irving Gordon). The song was re-recorded by Nat’s daughter Natalie after her father died. Her version (with overdub of her father’s original recording) was recorded as a “duet” on her multiple award-winning album by the same name, becoming a popular hit in 1991. (Natalie died on or about Dec. 31, 2015. She was 65.)
This is a cover version by the late Dean Liapis (musician from So. Florida), recorded sometime in the early 1990s.

On a personal level, Dean was of one of my closest friends in life and former band mate (lead singer) of The Modds-a popular Rock and Roll band from the So. Florida (Miami) area in 1965. The Modds had one of their original recording demos “Don’t Be Late” played on a local Miami radio station (WFUN).
After both Dean and I served in the military, we resumed our interests in music, each putting together or joining existing bands well into the 1990s. For Dean, he was a member of So. Florida bands called “Rubber Soul”; “Love Touch” and Beau Geste* in particular (Songs can be found here on YouTube).*
During December, 2001 I got a call from Dean which led to a resumption of friendship after almost 20 years of no contact. We also had a number of opportunities to perform together up to 2011. Several live recordings can also be found on YT including songs he recorded in the 1990s along with “Unforgettable”.
I did the best I could to edit the songs from song beginnings to their endings, but because the songs were recorded (1990s) all on one track, there was very little I could do with the overall quality. Nevertheless, I believe you will enjoy his version of “Unforgettable” despite the “karaoke”-type recording.
R.I.P. Dean Liapis of Ft. Lauderdale on Oct. 13, 2014. He was 67.
