I find it strangely refreshing, to have a moment that is grounded by grief. It puts Morlock within our reach. They are building on him, not only as my favorite reason to laugh, but also as a man who has cried and suffered the losses that I have.

I can understand why he would basically curse himself with forgetfulness. He likely never wants to revisit this most painful memory.

Though it makes me wonder, would he have truely been able to save her with his magic? And even then, how much longer could she live before the flu eventually kept getting worse and worse? He couldn't afford to be with her forever and she likely wouldn't want him to either. She seemed to have had a similar ailment that those in real life do, where they have a extremely low White blood cell count and thusly a highly weakened immune system, so she was likely to die eventually at an early age considering the time period and the fact magic was the only thing that could help. Sure, magic could always help to save her but it only would prolonge the likely inevitable outcome of a disease taking her.

Doesn't stop the moment from being as tragic as it was, but the way the mother described it, it gave me the impression she had immunity problems from diseases or viruses what with her apparently getting dreadfully sick exceptionally often.

If he has to die to bring his daughter back, then that's fine, only way to atone for his failure as a father. No parent should have to bury their own child or outlive them, especially if you should have been there.

If somehow Raelza is his daughter and they've both lost their memories, then maybe that the necklace she made him may trigger both their memories at some crucial battle or point, maybe as he is dying saving her etc.
