How to Clean your Oven in Under 30 Minutes!!

I cleaned several ovens - really dirty greasy ones - to try to find the BEST way to clean an oven. Not only the fastest way but the easiest. This will cut down the time you spend cleaning an oven in half!! This is for non self-cleaning ovens (or if you choose not to use that feature).

In past videos, I cleaned a lot of ovens. And for all but one of the videos, they were really dirty ovens and by the time I was done I was sweaty. Not glistening guys, super sweaty. So sweaty that I started to doubt other people on YouTube who can look so put together after an hour of cleaning.

Even professional cleaners say it will take an hour or more to clean an oven and they can’t guarantee they’re going to get it all clean either. Plus at least $60. So think of this as saving money.

I mean cleaning an oven is one of the worst jobs in the kitchen. Especially if you have to bend down. It's hard on your knees too. And you’re reaching and putting half your body inside!

Then there’s the chemicals! There’s no way I want to breath in or even touch most oven cleaner. It burns your lungs and your skin and no matter what I always get it on my skin.

So I was specifically searching not only for the easiest way to clean but for the most natural way. I’m ok with using chemicals if they work! But I draw the line at regular oven cleaner because I’ve done that enough to know it’s not worth it to me.

So armed with cleaning gloves, microfiber cloths and my favorite Scotch brand scrubbie, here’s what I tried:

Baking soda and vinegar natural oven cleaner

Tosca Steam cleaner - this is the heavy duty steam cleaner and I love the idea of cleaning with just water! But it was sweaty because it's summertime and very warm.

Zep degreaser - if there’s anything I had high hopes for it’s using a degreaser. I read the reviews on how people use it to clean even the nastiest restaurant stoves so I went in with high hopes.

Easy Off Fume Free Oven Cleaner this one raised all my skepticism. To me, this is the enemy. The stuff I hate. Could I trust that it’s really fume free?

Norwex paste - a lot of people swear by this one and despite my misgivings about it being an MLM I do love some of their products and I had to test it out.

My only rule is that it had to be the easiest way. I was willing to do what it took to find out. So I enlisted my friends and told them I was ready to clean their ovens!

It cleaned an oven so much faster - less than half of the time of my other tests. I’m not sponsored to say this guys. I bought everything with my own money.

If you’re smart you don’t want to clean this oven again. So use foil, clean up messes immediately or use this oven liner. That way you just have to clean the liner, not the entire bottom of the oven. Still, if you have to clean the whole thing, at least you know how.

I don't understand why people are complaining. your video is short of 5 min! literally! I'm grateful you showed different ways because I was also considering the baking soda and vinegar method but I don't have time to leave it overnight or just clean up such a messy process. Now since we all have face masks, use it while cleaning the oven.

In Australia we have "Bar Keepers Friend" (available from Coles, manufactured in Indianapolis, USA). Nothing beats this stuff for cleaning ovens. Astonishing. "Sprinkle onto a wet surface. Rub gently with a wet cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly within a minute of application, then wipe dry". You will be amazed.

Enjoy your videos. Your oven cleaning with the Dupray is what prompted me to buy my steam cleaner. My oven only has a low temperature cleaning feature, which uses about 3/4 cup of water and a 40 minute cycle to lift the dirt. Guess what it doesn't work. What is worse, the mfg cautions you not to use oven cleaner as it supposedly removes their non-stick coating. That said, I still used Easy Off low odor and it was OK, but not great. I do use my Dupray Neat steamer with a brass brush and a stainless scouring pad, which works pretty well - followed by an SOS pad. It helps to remove the oven door, which gives better access. I do put the racks into a plastic bag over night with ammonia (in the driveway), and that does a good job. Especially when I follow-up with an SOS pad. I also watched someone heat water and ammonia in the oven for a short time - then allowing it to set overnight. The next morning the cleaning seems much easier. I am planning to try that next, just to get the last burned bits out. BTW, mixing vinegar and baking soda may look cool when it bubbles, but the reaction actually reduces the effectiveness of the components. A baking soda paste alone at least has some abrasive qualities. Thanks again.

Great video. Sometimes you have to clean an oven 2 times before you get it all. Try letting Easy Off Fume Free sit for 6 hours before cleaning. Lemon smell and it worked on my caked on mess i inherited.

I keep my oven spotless everytime l spilled in oven from cooking or baking wipe up right away as soon as cool enough.Your oven should be wiped out every two weeks wether it needs it or not.

I just cleaned my oven do I can rent it out. I’m bad, bc I haven’t done a deep clean in 10 years. The glass door was brown and sides were greased cover. I bought spray to degreased oven but didn’t work. I went to dollar store bought box of brillo and that cleaned the glass door, scrubbed greased outside of oven and inside of oven. Use some muscles and keep scrubbing. Best thing ever, no fumes but Brillo and arm exercises.

I just put a Pyrex glass baking dish in my oven then I pour very hot water in it and add baking soda shut oven door and let it sit in there overnight. The next morning just wipe oven clean. Believe me even the hardest baked on gunk comes right off.

My SIL had an oven catastrophe and now the oven is dirty.
I’ve never had an element on the bottom of the oven and it’s intimidating if I spray the oven cleaner
