Today we are taking you to Kyoto city’s most popular cherry blossom spot, the philosopher’s path. It is one of Japan’s recognized path. An approximately 2 kilometers stone-paved path starts around Gikakuji or the Silver Pavillion and ends in the neighborhood of Nanzenji Temple. This path got its name from Nishi Kitano, one of famous Japananese philosopher who said to master meditation while walking on this path everyday to go to Kyoto University.
This path runs beside a canal that connects Lake Biwa Canal. This canal was built during Meiji period and was used to power Japan’s first hydroelectric power plant.
