Just listening to your guys' episodes for the first time. 1. I don't use heat mats...I just set the temp for 70 in my house during the day and with the humidity dome I get 100% germ every time. 2. With the plastic cups or trays that I want holes in I use my wood burning tool and it just melts through like butter...no mess no noise and fast. 3. When planning a garden it is important to know critters and pests common to your neighborhood. We have tons of deer AND our neighbour's have black walnut trees. Loved your episode!!

Companion planting outside is a very important ideas between both veggies and flowering perennials and annuals. This can really be an interesting and useful aspect of gardening.

Misting is a must this time of year for me... I’m in Wisconsin and with forced heat my humidity lovers dry out and look bad... mainly my Boston fern, I mist it a few times a day. I have a humidifier and pebble trays, but I feel like the fern is happier with the little extra attention.

Oh yeah, and there is a PVC that is very small gauge that can bend easily and it's literally the cheapest one in the aisle at the hardware store but make sure it's rated for UV rays so it lasts more than one year! LOL it's only a couple bucks for a really long piece.

Dollar Tree hula hoops cut in half make great little hoops or just some strong gauge wire that you can buy in a whole roll work over my garden beds!

My favorite style of lights are 440nm 400 watt metal halide for veg and 680nm 600 watt high pressure sodium for flower (they have the most PAR-Photosynthetic Active Radiation) with less heat compared to 1000 watt but I do like LEDs for veg stage only.

Learned the hard way about sun mapping, especially the change in seasons and time of year even in florida

I am gardening in sub-tropical Brisbane, Australia. Here I can grow tomatoes all year long (YAY!!). My current crop is all growing well except for two plants which have started wilting from the top down. I will pull them out and replace them but I would like some advice as to what is causing it. The soil is the same, it gets the same amount of water, fertilizer etc. The leaves are also smaller than those on their neighbours, even the same variety.

I picked up some straw from our local nursery one year and plants grew out of the straw. I noticed that there were she tops in it as well. Did they give me something different than what I had asked for?
