_"Humans didn't actually use their tech to defeat Zetton."_

Ultraman SPECIFICALLY told the SSSP that the entire world's nuclear stockpile would be insufficient against Zetton in the movie.

This is the kind of opinion that formed when you watch too many generic Marvel movies

Edit: Damn over 450 likes, thanks!

The fact that you are mad that a solar system destroying mech didn't get beat by human tech is stupid, Ultraman sacrificing himself to save humankind was a great ending, you getting all pissed that humans didn't use tech from the original show is just dumb.

Type of guy to complain there's not enough humans in Transformers movies.

The humans didn't create a weapon to destroy Zetton in this version but they were the ones to figure out the tactic to eliminate its threat with Ultraman being the one to carry it out.

That's just a realistic compromise to the original story. Its still human inginuity instead of just Ultraman's strength.

This movie is just one of the latest examples of how Japan is making the best superhero productions. Is silly, cool, nostalgic, contemporary and psychedelic all at once. A true joy of a candy.
A pity that the creator of the video didn't enjoy it. Not his fault of course, but neither the movies', which is just doing its thing and doing it good

I liked the film.
Not even disagreeing with some complaints, but "weird angles"? The shot composition in Anno films is always godly.

I think in my opinion, it’s really good. Not perfect by any means, And yea it’s a bit weird in a lot of ways. However to me, this is what a love letter to Ultraman. Considering how this was made with less than 10 million dollars, It’s incredible how they managed to recreate so much of the Original Plans for Ultraman 66 that didn’t work due to suit/budget limits. They intended to make the old show in a new day and age. And they did it very well.

Tarantino can have a dedicated feet shot, but anno cant?

Usually I see opinions as opinions but recently I’ve come to learn that some opinions are wrong

To Ripia, that sniffing scene was just that. Sniffing. To get her scent to track the beta capsule. That scene was important to build on how Ripia was obsessed with understanding humans but as he said to Zoffy in the end, humans are too complex to understand. Human thoughts are complex.

The fast pace, the "oversexualization", and some more are just a part of Anno's style, while it does get a lot of people filtered I would go as far as to say that it is an acquired taste. IMO this movie skips over most of the characters because it tackles the collective of humanity as a whole and focuses more of the narrative this time to Ultraman himself instead.

Yep... This man said all of the reason why I watch the whole Hideaki Anno's “Shin Tokusatsu Universe”

Everything from the sexualized close-ups, the strange story beats, the goofy CGI and subpar production can be explained as intentional idiosyncrasies from Hideaki Anno.
This film was less concerned with giving a modern polish to Ultraman and more with paying tribute to the absolute insanity in the original show.
This was a highly personal project from Hideaki Anno since one of the first ever productions he did was an Ultraman fan film and you can see from his interviews that he was trying to share what he found so appealing from the originals in the 70s.

They made it shaken and low quality at times to call back to the classic series

Lipia gave the humans the betabox knowledge, the humans put equations together to boost it's function. Basically, Lipia was the bullet this time, shot by human intelligence dealing with Lipia's beta knowledge.

It is like in the og show. Is fast, is one shot, Lipia spins, Lipia falls. Is all there, just rearranged.

I feel like even the bad points of this movie was almost intentional. And I love it.
