GIS for Broadband Internet Expansion

Many rural areas in Northern Ontario struggle with inadequate broadband, limiting Internet access and hindering economic growth. To address this, the telecommunications non-profit Blue Sky Net uses GIS-based tools like ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS StoryMaps to visualize and analyze data, replacing traditional paper methods. These digital solutions, such as the Ontario Broadband Resource Hub, enable faster and more accurate planning for broadband expansion. As a result, broadband coverage is improving, driving economic growth and better access to services in remote communities across Northern Ontario.
