The popsicle was invented by accident by an 11-year-old boy named Frank Epperson in 1905. He left a mixture of powdered soda, water, and a stirring stick in a cup outside on his porch overnight and woke up to a frozen treat on a stick, which he called the 'Epsicle.' Years later, Epperson's children started referring to it as Pop's 'sicle, or Father's icicle, and the name Popsicle was born!
