5 Keys on How to Start and Finish a Project

I got a request from a friend of mine who was the Michael Jordan of our high school. He now runs a very successful transportation company.

He asked us to do a video on how to start and finish a project. A lot of entrepreneurs have a lot of ideas. It's not uncommon to spend a lot of time or money (or both) and ending up getting nothing done. That's irritating and frustrating!

In this video I talk about a process you can use that will help you get better at project management.

First, there are three rules you need to keep in mind:

Rule #1: 90% of projects we come up with are worthless. 0:55

I was in a meeting last weekend at church with our Guest Services. one thing we talked about was starting projects and never finishing them.

I use to have that problem where I'd start one project, then start another, then another and it didn't take long, I had five unfinished projects kicking around taking up real estate in the shop.

I became tired of it after some time and decided to either complete them or toss them. I completed most of them and scrapped the few I was least passionate about.

most entrepreneurs are gung-ho about ideas, but don't follow through, when creating ideas you need all sorts of personalities to see things from all angles, figure out strategy by figuring out if you need to outsource some responsibilities, delegate tasks then implement, deadlines are very important

Pat, when do you know when it is a good time to give up on an idea? Or if it is worth pursuing?

As you say, I have tons of ideas all the time, and some of them I feel more passionate about than others. However, many times the ones I like look the least feasible. Basically I'm stuck in those two perspectives: "If you truly believe in something, go for it and eventually you'll get it" and "Don't get too attached and move on". I don't know which one to follow.
