They key to stopping a child from wetting the bed is their readiness to stop the behavior, according to Angela Beeler, MD, division chief, General Pediatrics/Primary Care at UMass Memorial Children's Medical Center. She says that treatments, including medication and bedwetting alarms, can be talked about with your child's pediatrician, but will only be effective when your child is willing and ready to talk about it. Bedwetting can be embarassing for your child, so Dr. Beeler stresses that it's important to remind your child things that they things he/she does in his/her sleep is not their fault.
