Besides this incident and another similar one on an Air France flight many years later, the A380 is one of the safest aircraft out there, with not a single fatality recorded.

People don’t realise that this could have EASILY been one of the biggest aviation disasters in history. There were many problems that the crew had to handle, such as landing the plane soft and fast enough so it wouldn’t overrun the runaway, as the plane didn’t have maximum reverse thrust power. However, they couldn’t land to hard and slow, as that could cause a stall or ignite the tons of fuel that hadn’t been used up by the plane yet. They couldn’t keep flying as the hydraulics were acting up, and so all these conditions made it a very impressive emergency landing. Surely the pilots and whole crew deserve more credit

A true show of crew resource management for the crew flying this plane after their engine exploded. An engine explosion nearly destroyed the largest passenger plane.
Airplanes like an A380 are designed to keep flying even if an engine is damaged or destroyed and pilots are trained to fly like this as they practice this in the flight simulator.

BRAVO! Congrats (and thanks) to the entire crew!!

A big applause for Captain Richard de Crespingy, pilot of Qantas Airways flight QF32 for land safely an A380 That had a major failure on its engine 👏👏👏👏

Probably, the most realistic animation ever in ACI 👏

Kudos to Captain Richard de Crespigny and the rest of the QF32 crew to land the wounded giant safely to the ground 👏

just imagine if a plane of this size fell to the ground, the explosion must have been very large and the plane would never have crashed if an Airbus A380 plane in another country was shocked.

As an Aussie, this would scare the hell out of me. Mate…

A very good animation. Also well done to the pilot for the landing the A380 which got kinda hard to fly. The animation is also very good but at 0:00 did anyone else notice the PSA 737 and Air France In Singapore

0:02 anyone notice the PSA and A320-100 in the background? Kinda unrealistic as the event happened after the fall of PSA and the A320-(100) not -200.

the reason why the engine exploded was because, a fire occurred from oil leaking through a fatigue crack in the pipe, causing an engine fire. the IPT disc was damaged, causing fragments of that disc to fly out, which damaged the hydraulic/control system. everyone survived, and no injuries occurred. as you can see at 0:33, the left wing was damaged.

This may seem miner, but it was not. Heaps of hydraulics were lost and ECAMs were flooding the screen. Lots of red lights, too. And engine 1, 3 and 4 were degraded. The fuselage was hit too, fuel was pouring out of the wing and engine. Richard De Decrespigny was a literal champion in this situation. He flew in the RAAF for many years, and new how to fly very well. It was how one of the worst aviation disasters was averted. The way he was able to bank the aircraft and fly back to Changi is amazing. Landed full speed. No reverse thrust. Wow.

0:47 know that is cool I never seen that before

I remember when the internet freaked out when the debris from the engine landed on an island or something. There were pictures of the debris evrywhere and some thought it had crashed. Thankfully that wasnt the case and it landed safely.

Qantas Flight 32 was a regularly scheduled passenger flight from London to Sydney via Singapore. On 4 November 2010, the aircraft operating the route, an Airbus A380, suffered an uncontained failure in one of its four Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines. The failure occurred over the Riau Islands, Indonesia, four minutes after takeoff from Singapore Changi Airport. After holding for almost two hours to assess the situation, the aircraft made a successful emergency landing at Changi. No injuries occurred to the passengers, crew, or people on the ground, despite debris from the aircraft falling onto houses in Batam.
