If you didn't grow up in the 70's, you missed a great show. ❤

SNL never could hold a candle to this show.

As a senior, and a Canadian, the rivalry between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadians was legendary. You would probably have to be in your sixties now, and Canadian to truly appreciate this.

Deepest condolences to Mr. Flaherty's family. Rest in peace Joe. Say hi to John Candy for us! You are BOTH dearly missed by your fans. Canadian entertainers at their funniest!!

This couldn't be any more Canadian unless it was an ad for maple syrup

What makes shows like this even better is when you see them again. Sure a lot of the skits were corny but that's what they were all about. Decades later when many of the cast members move on to some bigger and better things, you gain a more appreciation of them. Kinda like fine wine. Now we get to see these skits again with that in mind and they are even better than they were. Thanks for all the memories from John Candy, Rick Moranis, Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Andrea Martin, Harold Ramis, Dave Thomas & Joe Flaherty.

The algorithm threw a John Candy interview at me a few days ago and now I'm just discovering SCTV for the first time. Holy shit I've missed out.

I love the fact that John Candy is trying not to crack up during the whole skit 😆

Lmao I grew in the city of Dorval in Montreal I was English but we still smoked Exports ate Joe Louis and drank Pepsi.. the Montreal Canadians practiced 100 Meters from my school and we could go watch sometimes. Those were the days.

The joke at the end there, for anyone not understanding 20th century Canadian slang, was that people from Quebec Canada were called Pepsi because originally Pepsi was cheaper than Coca-cola. I have no idea if that's still the case but it was certainly a thing when I was a kid in the 80s and when this skit was filmed.

Some of my best memories were watching SCTV. They used to rerun them on TV early in the morning in Virginia in the 80's for some reason. All those people were so funny. Joe Flaherty, John Candy, Eugene Levy. So funny.

In 1982, I worked as a busboy at a restaurant called the "Flying Food Circus" in Yorkville. It was owned by the same company that ran Second City in Toronto. Joe Flaherty came in by himself to have dinner one night. Surprised that nobody else recognized him but me, not even the waitress serving him. Thought about asking for his autograph and telling him his Count Floyd segments was the funniest bit on the show especially when he gets enraged that the movie is not remotely scary and starts howling. But I chickened out thinking I'd could get fired.

R.I.P. Joe Flaherty, please spread some love and heartfelt condolences to his family. Joe was the funniest at the table, a mentor to young comics, and earned guffaws among fans of SCTV and Freaks and Geeks.
