It’s awesome to have a hybrid when driving in traffic and at red lights because it’s total silence. The AC compressor runs when the engine is off so you stay cool. Conventional engines with stop/start feature cannot run the AC compressor when the engine is off.

Biggest disadvantage of Hybrid Toyotas: too long wait time to get one!

I would add longevity to the list. I have 435k on my 2012 Camry XLE hybrid and I have no leaks or problems. The shared load between the motor and the engine give you great longevity if you properly maintain your vehicle.

I went with the XLE premium gas fwd only. I’m retired and only drive about 5k miles per year. The savings over the hybrid was worth it to me. I don’t regret my choice.

Love the fact that Toyota never gave up on improving each gen of hybrid system and developed that wonderful 2.5 dynamic force engine, making Toyota the king of the hybrid. IMO, thanks Marcelo for sharing this video. 😊

What about the Cablegate issue with the the Rav4 Hybrid? I own a 2023 Rav4 Hybrid despite this issue hoping that Toyota will address the problem. I love my car, the way it drives and the fuel economy. I just wish that Toyota would be more transparent about this problem and openly describe what has been done to resolve it, as they say they did.

There’s a benefit for us here in Colombia. Hybrids have low emitions and thus, don’t have plate restriction. A huge plus

The biggest fault in the Toyotas is that the starter battery easily runs flat and then you can’t start the car . We have two Toyotas and it has been very annoying . Reliable they might be but it’s not much good if you can’t start the car !!! I’d now think again before getting another one . Also the hybrid is not as great as you think they don’t run over 52 miles per gallon which is no better than a diesel . Of course they are never as efficient as they claim .

whats the risk of the Lithum batteries exploding? How much maint costs compared to petrol car? How long do batteries last for?....you did a good job of mentioning all the positives but not the negatives.

A benefit for me was decreased insurance costs. My insurance dropped almost $300/yr from my Forte5 to my Rav4 XSE.

Yes, there are many factors that come into play when it comes insurance. This was one specific to me and my experience thus far.

Drove a new 2010 Rav4 v6 Limited. Miss the heated seats. Traded for a 2016 Rav4 hybrid. Love it. Gets appx 32 mpg all around. Also drive a 2011 Prius. Still gets 46-48 mpg. None of these 3 cars ever had a repair except for wreck damage. Also, Hybrids go a long time before needing brakes. I have never paid for brake work either. I bought for reliability and that is exactly what I have gotten.

It's not just whether or not you want a Hybrid vehicle it's also if you can land one and not have to pay a dealer markup.
Hybrid's command a premium these days 😉

Lucked out and got the exact one I want. Is being built tomorrow so hopefully I will have it within the next month. No markup either.

The only negative of our hylander hybrid was the very long 11 month delivery time Aug 2023. Though frustrating, it was well worth the wait.
Very responsive drivetrain performance, great braking and the fuel economy for a vehicle this size is impressive. We’ve experienced 800-820kms between fuel fill ups (770kms wintertime). I would definitely recommend going the hybrid route for the extra cost vs many benefits.

I have tried to rent a hybrid RAV-4 prime for 2022 and the sale man told me what was age at that time. He said during the Covid-19 I have been told I would have to wait at least close for 12 months. So findly I went for a gas unit RAV-4 XLE and for the amount of kilometer I do for a period of one year it is decimal. So I do appreciate my RAV-4 so far it runs very well.
