Hmmm so measure the pto sprocket to see how far down the top of it is from the bottom of the adjusting case Then set the top of the large sprocket the same distance and tighten it and the two ends of the split pin need wrapping around the top of that half link in the same direction as the circlip I would have injected some more grease in the bearings too with a grease needle too But that was entertaining to watch Also JD sells a self contained gear box you can bolt in to get rid of the chain and sprocket mess However knowing JD there probably more expensive than a new truck ?

The chain is shot. Replace with a #40 X 52 pin chain and you will be amazed at how quiet it runs! I have had to change mine every few seasons as the large sprockets are never welded perfectly centered and takes its toll on the chain. Cheers!!!

These blowers are real workhorses but… they have a few design flaws. The input/shaft driven sprocket is more robust and is a hardened sprocket but the second, larger, sprocket is kind of cheap. And you have to completely disassemble the driven side to get the chain off. The cheap pillow block type bearings brace plates seem to fatigue and fail before the sealed bearings. Plus the cables that control the Shute direction are a poor design. They cross over each other and rub against each other at the pulley.

That chains not bad. Replaced my motorcycle chain last spring. Lets just say you could lay it flat on the table and make a complete circle still. 25, 000Kms had taken 6 links out of it and ran the tightener to the end for the 3rd time. Only reason i replaced it was to save the sprockets. Bought a new chain, flipped the sprockets and good to go.

AHAAHAAH How coincidental .. I just watched Jon Ritter, ( A ritter Bit will Do) repair a broken chain on His Kubota Thrower.
That Sprocket is Fine Bill, It is not a Saw Blade yet...
Thanks Bill..

From experience with bicycles, the chain and sprockets usually wear together. I bought a new chain but didn't replace the sprockets. The result was the chain bound and jumped. They have to be replaced together.

stock blower chains do not have a master link in them. you should upgrade to John Deere Parallel Shaft Gear Drive part#AUC16953

Bill is a shame that they don't allow you to work in the big shop. Love your videos. You inspired me to start my youtube channel. Thank you.

Nope no master link. I had the same problem. Your sprockets are out of round.i switched to the enclosed version. Way better design. Look around on YouTube you will find it a better idea

Bill I remember you kept the sweeper and blower from the 2720 and traded the tractor and mower for the 2032r with a new mower that was 8 years ago plus another 5 years on the 2720 and I don’t remember you ever replacing the chain on the snowblower and lots of shear bolts and on the sweeper about 5 drive chains

may be a roller might be bad to. usually if the gear is bad the toofies or teeth are worn down not catching the chain either.

i'd just update it to the gear box instead of the chain drive.

Be sure to check how close the fan is to the housing. Looks like it might have been rubbing the back of the fan housing (haven’t watched full video yet)

Did you get that with 2720 or the 4110. I forgot what tractor came with the sweeper

Kind of sucks that you had to do this video in your tiny shed instead of in the cemetery's garage, It would of had a lot more room, but "no filming beyond the gates"😠
