Saucony Triumph 22

The Triumph has been a shoe of slow but steady iteration. But this year, they’ve changed the midsole shape and the midsole foam. But does putting race caliber foam into a max cushion shoe make sense? It’s time to lace up the Triumph 22 and take it for a run.

I love how you explain shoe lineups, like you did for the Puma deviate Elite. With so many options it can be hard to keep track for if you are trying to do a shoe brand for a marathon training block. You explain it so ik what a typical lineup of shoes would look like in a marathon training block. Very helpful!

Glad to see a review that didn't absolutely trash this shoe. I've really enjoyed my experience with it. Especially as a heavy runner.

Triumph 20, best shoe I’ve ever had so far (running since 2007). 1000km on them (long, tempo, threshold runs), still very comfortable, bouncy and looking like new

Love my T20s

Also, from a review structure standpoint, I found the "where in the lineup" segment to be INCREDIBLY helpful.

Great video! I really like my Triumph 22s. I agree with your comparison to the Nimbus 25 IF you leave the 7mm ortholite sock liner in this shoe. I think a lot of people want the Triumph 22 to remain a “cushioned daily trainer” versus a max cushion shoe. The antidote for them is to buy the Ride 17, which features a full PWRRUN+ midsole like the prior Triumph shoes. The antidote for ME was to replace the ortholite sock liner with a PWRRUN+ sock liner. The shoe has been “giggles” fun since then.

As a lightweight heel striker, I was in store to find some cushioned shoes and I tried exactly these 3 pairs (More v4, triumph 22 and nimbus 25) alongside the brooks glycerin. I ended up going for the nimbus as the Brooks and Saucony felt unresponsive/firm to me and when trying I immediately liked the ride and toe-rocker of the nimbus 25 more. The shoe was more lively than those 2 previous shoes to me while being slightly more stable than the New balance. Great video thank you for the review !

Today my mother purchased me a pair of triumph 22s and no word of a lie… They are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn & I’m a shoe head!!!🤟🏼

Lots of reviewers panned the Triumph 22 but I like the shoes. I find the more that I have run in them, the better they feel.

Very interesting the comparison between the shoes. Now I understand more why they gave me the Kinvara pro as my first carbonshoe. I broke all my PR”s last year with it from the 5k to the marathon. I ran 416.4km this far with it and yesterday at the store the man who helped me said it is still working fine. I also bought the Triumph 22 yesterday and ran today 9.1km with it. It really does feel like you”re running on a pillow and I noticed it was a warm shoe. It’s a big difference than the new balance 880v13 I had. I found that shoe too hard on the ground and I didn’t like the feel on top. I could run faster than expected and it did work when I ran quite long, but I think it also punished my legs too much and now I’m coming back from an injury. The Triumph feels slower than the 880, but the speed wasn’t the reason I’ve bought it. (I also had the HOKA’s Mach 5 as an intervaltrainer and recently replaced that with the 6. I haven’t run much with it yet, but it feels a bit slower than the 5. Or I am just slower because of being out of shape due to the injury)

In the future a replacement for the Kinvara could be the Pro Run 4, as I see on your lineup explanation. I am also interested in the ASICS metaspeed, but I couldn’t have tested that shoe yet.

It really seems like most shoe companies don't pay attention to summer running in recovery shoes. Just because it's max cush it doesn't have to be so warm.

Appreciate how you lined up all the models in a row. That’s very helpful. 👍🏼

A good reason not to update my Triumph 21 with 1300+ km. Outsole holding Up great and midsole feels fresh as new. Upper still fully functional...I will try to get 2000km in 21 instead of going after 22

I eagerly awaited the release of this shoe and the weight and especially the non breatheable upper disappointed. The powerrun PB feels nothing like my Endorphin Speed 3’s. Bought the lighter, more breatheable and versatile Triumph 21 on a discount and it’s the best shoe I own. Love it.

Awesome video, was hoping you'd compare it to the Nimbus 25 during the video. Glad to know how they stack up to each other now! I might actually go for the Triumph 22 once I retire my Nimbus 25 down the line as I probably won't find any more Nimbus 25's since I'm skipping the 26's for the same reasons you mentioned about them.

Great video.

ASICS has pretty much taken over for me over saucony.

Triumph is my top 3 shoe next to hoka mach 4, and pretty much any new balance tc, rc, rebel, beacon, impulse, propel also saucony speed 2 top 5... brook ghosts is the better for all around walking where triumph to me gets a little bit more comfortable on slow jog speeds, but its comfy to walk in but ghost still feel better all around for a beginner i recommended all those though ❤you kofuzi!
