Love my 6 string. Been playing it for 12 years now. Haven't looked back since I got it.

Straight up vid; super useful. Thanks. Just got a 5 string and loving the high-register soloing, so now curious about 6 string. . . .

Exactly why I'm playing more 6 string. More notes under my fingers in any given position = more economy of motion and less vertical movement. After spending time on my 6, I honestly believe that 4 string is more difficult for me. I visualize patters much easier on a 6 string. - and don't need to stray too far from the root note, as you point out. The chords are just an added bonus to expand musical expression. BTW, my 6 string is a Dingwall. I think that makes it even easier because of the even string tension and more (for me) ergonomic frets. Plus I have that mosterous 37" b string at my disposal. together with a sweet sounding 33" C.

I have the exact same bass, without a doubt one of the best and most comfortable basses I've ever played haha I agree with this video 100%

I agree with every word, and the little funk groove he was laying down had me frowned up like I just smelled something nasty and stank😂!

I just got my 6 string yesterday. I only recently returned to music and after 35 yrs and getting used to the 4 string again, this 6 string is a vast ocean of learning for me. From string spacing to fret location, it's a bit overwhelming at the moment. I hadn't considered what you mentioned with the middle of the neck being less tight than the top frets, great point.

Out of all the vids I’ve watched to convince myself of buying a 6 string, this one feels the most relatable to me. I’m self taught, I like the comfort of one position, and I think more notes will allow me to express myself more. Thank you for basically being a great salesman😂!

Thanks for the video. I have a 6 string and I have never thought about playing the F on the B string. It's a brave new world!

Keepin' it real man! The end of the video you brought up a solid point every bass player should get through their head. WHO CARES WHAT ANYONE THINKS!? As a bass player you need to realize you are the glue that holds everything together, like the skeleton of the human body. Let the guitarists and vocalists worry about the dumb crap.

Play what makes you feel inspired!... awesome quote!... doesn't matter if it's a 4 string, 6 string, or 12 string. If you enjoy the feel of the instrument and it inspires you to play, then play it. Music isn't mean to fit inside a box, so why should instruments?

Very well said man. I recommended to all my students that the 5 is the ultimate bass, and if you wanna play rock or metal that should be your 2nd bass. Some of my students wanted a 6, like mine and i recommended your bass, cheers
