As someone with 1300 hours in the isle legacy I have some info for new players who wants to hop into this game.
First of all in 2022 all the official servers are dead, so you need to play on community servers.
There are two maps, V3 and Thenyaw. V3 is the more popular map and is way bigger than thenyaw.
Thenyaw's night is also way darker than the night on V3. (you can't see anything even if you have gamma on.) However you can see a decent amount with gamma or reshade on V3. (if the server allows)
Asura is a no rule server that is based in EU, the server is populated in the afternoons (EU time, and around 8am-4pm PST), it's a no rule server so it's very brutal, people will kill you on sight, go there if you want a challenge (wouldn't recommend for new players unless you like the thrill of dying)
Noobz and isla nycta are semi ruled servers which have body down rules (which means you can only kill when you are hungry pretty much) so that lessens the amount of killing and are more beginner friendly.
Lastly there is hellfire isle which is a full realism server. That means each dinosaurs have their own profile and how they are supposed to behave, if you play a dinosaur you need to behave exactly how the admins want you to. (read the profiles in their discord) Go there if you want a realism experience but don't expect too much combat.

If you want to play on thenyaw, you can play on the river den or the dry reef (I like river den). both servers are very similar in terms of rules and population, and have body down rules.

So basically if you pick any of these servers the first thing you will want to do is to join their discord to read the rules. If you don't follow the rules people can report you and you will get warnings (eventually banned). Another thing about joining the discord is that you can earn discord points. and then you can buy and inject full grown dinos with thos discord points that you earned. (its a virtual currency doesnt cost real money)

Ohh and also in the video future caveman also said the hitboxes are kinda weird and it is wacky. The hitboxes isn't what you would expect it to be. for most mid tier dinos and above (anything bigger than a dilo), they all have a bigger left side hitbox than right side. so what that means is if someone is tail riding you, turn left and bite, you might hit them. The hitbox is something that you need to learn if you play this game well. If you know where the hitbox for each dino is, you will become so much better at fighting in this game. For me the hitbox is just part of the fun, and it's not a negative.

Also if you are playing this game for the first time I suggest you to spend at least a decent amount of hours (maybe 10 hours or so) in sandbox. Try out the different dinos and see what they can do. Find the one you like, and then play in survival as that dino. It's not worth it to just spend 3 hours growing in survival and then die because you don't know how to fight.

Hope this comment at least helps some of you.

I think your review is quite biased. I think the isle legacy is a great dinosaur survival game. The best in it's genre. It's quite combat focused in that you need to learn the bleed system and how the game calculates Bite force / damage to be really good at combat. Growing a tiny T-rex in a world full of adult apexes that would eat me if they see me is very scary and exciting. I can't explain the feeling that I get when my Finally get the click the grow button on my subadult T-rex after hours of growing and surviving. And I can't explain the amount of horror that I felt when a sub giga of mine get's spotted and trotted down by an Acrocanthosaurus. Watching something that is faster and stronger than me walk closer to me bit by bit is worse than a swift death I swear. I had a lot of fun killing other players in the isle and watching them get mad at me in chat (I'm really good at fighting). I would rate the isle a 9/10, it's a great game and a must buy if you enjoy survival games!!!

I wouldn't wait for evrima, its going to be years before evrima is ready to go as a fully playable game. Plus as a legacy player jumping into evrima, evrima seems easier... If you want to play dino survival, the isle legacy is good if u want to jump in and hunt with friends, and then as a bonus you get evrima down the track..legacy still has a thriving community and the game play can be very rewarding.

My favorite types of animals are fish, reptiles, and birds so the isle is good for me and also there’s a lot of scientific facts(except theropods having feather)

For a game that's been in beta for almost 7 years it's pretty bare bones

When you get this game for 2 dollars ;)

considering the game has made over 20 million in revenue and has YET to get anywhere other than a glorified restart and costs 20$
i cant warn against this game enough.
sure development shows SOME signs of life but the asking price for this game for literally spawning into a world to stand around or sit under a bush for hours on end to grow to adulthood only to get bored after doing so is a TOO much for the price.
frankly this game should be no more than 10 or dare i say 5.
sure, quality is good but this game barely qualifies as anything but a role players wet dream.
ive had this game since its release nearly 6 years ago and ive YET to see it get ANYWHERE close to their promises... even with evrima.

and i wouldnt have anything to honestly bitch about if they werent pricing this game for the outrageous asking price they give it for something so fucking simple that you can literally find other games with the exact formula for cheaper and even free.
on top of that, the millions they have made on this game and they are literally getting no where with it
while 400k of the companys money has went to literal twitch streams involving league of legends, supposedly to [promote the isle] but considering the game is barely keeping itself afloat right now, its obvious that 400k promotion was a dumb move.

evrima at this point is just a polished turd...
and highly advise anyone wanting a dinosaur game to hold off before getting this one...
theres just not enough features nor fun at the moment.

This is so dumb. Name another Dinosaur survival game that is better? $20 ain't shit. Why wait if you plan on buying it in the future? Legacy has it's issue but it still the best dino survival game available.

Bunch of haters in here who got their asses tail ridden too many times lol

This game is god awful and boring. It has an identity crisis. It wants to be a survival game by encouraging you to hunt for food and water, it wants to be a Dino simulator by adding many controls to be more immersive as a Dino, and it wants to eventually to be a first person survival game once humans get added in. PVP is a joke, it's just people running in circles attacking each other. There's no tactics used in PVP. There's a lack of a rank system so there's no way to display to others how long you have survived as a Dino to others. Grouping up is pathetic. If you play with a friend, you always spawn in a random place and have fun running to each other to group up as the map is insanely huge. When it's night, it is RIDICULOUSLY dark for no reason and night vision barely helps. If you look at the ground while it's night it's like starring into an abyss. Only good things about the game is the visuals and sounds. 2/10 for me.
