Binġemma Necropolis | Rock-cut tombs, Ancient City

Today's adventure will take me and Pierre to the village of Binġemma were we will explore the remains of the Binġemma Necropolis, roc-cut tombs in an ancient city.
There are questions on the origins of the site as Archaeologists have their doubts on the time period they were done.
A complex of roc-cut tombs which were used to burry their loved ones and later on as a shelter during world war II.
The features found in this area are very similar to the Catacombs found in other places around Malta.

This ancient place in a modern world is cemetery. It is nice to know that place is still protected.

Wow, so much history in such a small island. I saw similar caves near Mosta, also next to the Victoria Lines, much smaller than these though. Thanks for sharing 😁
