China-Russia military drills: Exercises to focus on security in central Asia

China and Russia have begun a series of joint military drills in northeastern China that the two countries have described as a counterterrorism exercise.
The five-day drills in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are taking place just weeks before the US is due to complete its military pullout from Afghanistan, which borders China.
China is concerned that Afghanistan could again be a staging ground for al-Qaeda.
Beijing and Moscow have drawn closer as their ties with the United States have deteriorated.

Honestly China Russia alliance makes sense at this time. Russia has more combat experiences, better air defence system, larger nuclear forces, and more elite special forces. On the other hand China has the money to build a larger fleet of navies and airforces. The combined military power has a chance to match NATO's military might.

China has an unbreakable bond with both Pakistan and Russia, while India is relying on faraway "allies" like US, Japan and Australia which have no real interests in South Asia (not to mention that US, Japan and Australia also trade far more with China than India and are in a lot of Chinese debt).
